thank you, any comment on the price? lower mileage R3's have benn bringing as much as $20k on the auction sites, i thought this was a fair ask.

If you're not in a hurry to sell it, just wait.
I always say a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
This forum isn't nearly as popular as it once was.
Maybe try Bring A Trailer if you really want to sell it ASAP.

I've been actively looking to buy for several months now. Bring a trailer is not a good metric to go by unless you're expecting to be talked down. It's the young people's Barrett Jackson. Also, an '05 (even if it is a Shinka) is not an R3. If you want good price comps, you'll need to watch the applicable markets (fbmp, cl, etc.). I don't know if there's something super different in the FL market (you have better weather for more months, and we have better driving roads), but there's an almost identical car for sale local to me now (06, 81K, gray, Shinka) for $9,500, and has been for a while. I think the local guy's asking price is high, and the time on market agrees. Either he's much too high (and thus no one is even giving him offers), or he's not willing to budge (and thus he's not actually interested in selling). I haven't reached out to him because the car doesn't meet my criteria, but figured I'd give you the datapoint on the assumption you're serious about your inquiry as to the price.

i do recognize that this is not an R2, wasn't trying to make that comparison it is just that i haven't seen any accurate comps. i may be being snobbish but an 06 shinka is not an 05.
i have sold one car on bringatraler and like you said, was talked down.
i am on craiglist and considering facebook. i have had to add "SORRY, DUE TO THE AMAZNG NUMBER OF SCAMMERS NO CHECKS COD OR ESCROW.COM ONLY"
otherwise five emails a day wanting to send a cashiers check, etc.

Honestly, I don't know that even an R3 is all that special from what I've seen listed and sold. They're the most "sport" guise, but the RX-8 was designed as a GT and that's reflected. These are not high dollar or rare vehicles in just about any guise. I'd put the real world spread between any non- sub-spec (automatic, or the most very stripped down models) as only a few $K in reality. Probably a $4-5K spread from bottom to top.
There's a guy south of me a ways with a relatively low mile R3 with a fresh engine that he's had listed for $17K for... six months? If it's listed that long, the hint the world is giving is that the price is way out of line (and the seller is not very bright and/or not actually trying to sell the car). I imagine that particular car would actually sell with minimal friction in the neighborhood of... maybe $12K, and come down $0.5-1K to close. The oft repeated wisdom seems to be to simply buy the best example you can find with decent compression numbers, and the market pricing seems to support that as being the most common tactic employed.
On the other end, there's an S2 Touring spec (lowest trim above base, but well optioned within that trim) with around the same miles for sale nearby that was initially listed for $9K. I actually talked to that guy and went to look at the car. He's coming up on three weeks, and down to $8.5K. I thought the S2 would go a little faster (based on a much more limited dataset operating under the assumption that the S2s would be treated substantially differently), but seems I was wrong, and it's tracking tightly with comparable S1 models. I imagine he'll probably sell for $6.5-7K in another month or two. His car was actually featured on Jalopnik's Nice Price or Crack Pipe (I forget what they changed the name to), and got a nice price (among non-buyers playing with imaginary dollars) at $9,500 (which was mysteriously $500 over the actual initial list price). That the real world of actual buyers continues to say "No thanks" at >10% less than that is noteworthy if you've not seen that dynamic play out many times before.
As for listing among the usual avenues: I add a passphrase to all my listings. Something completely random and nonsensical. "TOAD CHEEKS" for instance (not my special phrase). I state clearly that if those words are not in the subject line of the email or the first two words in a text, any and all communication will be summarily ignored. You get your usual scammer blast in the first 24 hours, and then it goes away. If you can weed out the scammers (and the illiterate) without even opening the message, it makes it much less of a burden. Also, if you pick a secret word or phase with a bit of humor to it, it breaks the ice and gets things started on a good foot.

It's a very nice car and rare color too imo. More pictures will definitely help generate interest.
I agree with BC and if you can, just wait for the right buyer. BaT is potentially an excellent place to find someone who will appreciate your RX imo.
Good luck with the sale

thank you all for the replies and considerations.
the black cherry mica is supposedly only on the 05 shinkas.
there are 50 photos at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qqssdby0j...iVRDh6O1a?dl=0 i see now that the link is truncated in the original post.
i added a listing to fbm yesterday, i suspect that i will give this a month or so and then list on either bat or c&b.

I just started actively shopping. With respect, I think the asking price is high... plus I'm in Seattle and would have to pay to ship it. (yikes) but I'd still love to chat with you. I'm going to email you now...

Hi, Joe, I would love to get it, but I just can't justify the expense. :-( The only way I'm going to get an 8 is to find one at a price I can't say no to, and that's not going to be yours -- and for good reason! The Shinka is awesome. I can try buying some lottery tickets...
