FS: 2004 Turbo RX-8
Decided I'm going to have to let my car know. For more information about the situation, check here: https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/decided-sell-my-car-100930/.
At this moment the car has a brand new remanufactured motor from Mazda. The motor was opened and rebuilt by Mazsport in Largo, FL. The rotors were machined out to accept 3mm apex seals, which should hold up to a pretty good beating should you ever decided to increase the boost. This is a truely about as bulletproof as you can make a Renesis, and has been built to race spec by the a renowned engine builder, Scott Glassburn of Mazsport.
Here's the vitals:
2004 Titanium Gray RX-8 GT, purchased new in February of 2004
- Only option other than the Grand Touring package is Navigation. The car has a black and red interior.
- Has about 38,500 miles on it, although it will be slightly more once a buyer is found.
- The car was daily driven for about a year, then I bought a cheap beater truck. Shortly after I had the car turbocharged with the Greddy turbo kit and was installed and tuned by Mazsport. The initial dynorun produced 275whp and 200tq on the stock wastegate. Using a Profec B spec II to increase to 9psi we reached 275whp with 230ftlbs of tq. The dynograph can be viewed here: http://home.cfl.rr.com/epitrochoid/rx8dyno.jpg
The parts sheet in its entirety (items in bold were added when the new engine was installed):
Greddy T618Z turbo kit
New reman motor professionally built by Mazsport, Inc (replaced expansion plug, main bearing, rear oil pressure regulator, seal springs, and manifold gasket)
Mazsport Interceptor-X EMS
HKS SSQV BOV
Greddy Profec B Spec II
3mm Apex and Corner Seals
Racing Beat MOP
Mazsport Fuel Pump Kit
Mazsport fuel injector upgrade
Mazsport cooling fan modification
ACT HD Clutch Disc
Axial Flow Short Shifter
HKS Legamax II Exhaust
3 245/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, 1 Pilot Sport 1 in the same size
ARC Titanium Shift **** (goes nice with the short shifter)
JDM Clear Corners
This car is only a new turbo away from serious power numbers (400whp and up). There are very few RENESIS motors on the street now that are this strong!.
At the moment, I don't want to post pictures since I don't have any that are recent and I don't want to mislead anyone. The car was babied to no end, always garage kept, rarely driven in the rain, and always kept clean. I would not leave dirt on the paint for more than 4 or 5 days. The tires have decent tread left, one is different because I needed a new one in short time and was unable to get ahold of a PS2 in due time. The PS1 looks different, but it's the same size and to the extent of my driving abilities, I cannot feel a difference.
The only mark on the car worth mentioning is the front bumper. I had a loose tire tread fly up from under a car in front of my on the highway and it's put a small crease in the front end. It's hardly noticable, but worth mentioning. There are couple small dings on either door as well. I don't know exactly how many since they're so hard to see, I tend to lose count of how many there are.
This car has been my pride and joy for the past two and a half years. I've planned each step in the upgrade process as well as I could, but being that the car is so new I ended up on the short end of the early adopter stick. The car has been rebuilt, and with only a fuel pump upgrade could easily support over 400 to the wheels. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep it any longer, so let my mistake be your benefit.
I know whats involved in the process of selling a modified car, but I'm looking to get around $21,000 for the car. Due to the nature of the sale however, I am willing to consider just about any reasonable offer. Details such as shipping or pick up will be worked out once I negiotiate with the buyer.
Pics will be up this weekend, and feel free to ask any questions.

bump for a great car whose owner babied it to no end. (I've been on this forum long enough to know...)
Sad to see it go but hope it can find a nice home.

Ok, snapped some pics last week. I was running out of sunlight, and my camera is afraid of the dark...but you get the idea.

I'll get some more in the next few days now that my camera is working again
