I’d say bare basics you’ll need.
  1. Price
  2. accident history
  3. Manual or Automatic Transmission
  4. At least one picture of the car
  5. compression numbers

you get those, a 36k mileage car should sell quickly!

Thanks for the replies.

1) I am trying to figure out a fair price for a car like this, there aren't a lot to compare it to.
2) No accidents. I don't drive the car too often so it has been garage kept with limited exposure to the elements. There is a small crack in the area where the passenger airbag is. I am looking to find the best way to "repair" this. The crack is small enough that it "closes" when warm. Mainly I think it is important to do something to keep it from getting bigger.
3) Manual transmission
4) I am attaching some pictures and can send more of whatever you want to see.
5) Sorry, but I am not a die hard RX-8/Car guy so I am not sure what this is.

Imo your headlights appear rather faded for a garaged 35k car. Might be the lighting, not sure.

That said, being a GT in good condition I'd say a realistic sale price in the range of $10k for the right buyer. I've watched a few keep popping up in CA over the past few years with the seller(s) having no luck. S2, low miles, etc. Best advice would be to check for yourself what recent sales online (c&b, bat, CL, FB, etc) have been and come to a personal conclusion.

At the end of the day be willing to adjust your sale expectations and potential timeframe. RX community isn't particularly fond of the 8 and there's lots of tire kickers / price gougers.

Excerpt from my basic consumer's guide to life:

Value
the usefulness or desirability of good or service, how much you love it, or what it is “worth to me.” Value is not a number, but often we can compare the values of two things, especially if they are similar in use. Intuitively we see value as being intrinsic and stable over time, but analysis shows it must be somewhat dependent on individual preferences and social context. This stability of value stands in contrast to the fluctuations of market prices, and even when the price is stable, it may seem out of line with our perception of the value.

Cost (price)
The amount of money required to purchase something (a good or a service.) Cost is from the purchaser's viewpoint, so it can have a negative connotation (ie: cost is bad).

Worth
An expected selling price of some form of property, an appraisal. When we talk about worth, we are taking the viewpoint of the owner, and speculating about a possible sale, or what it might cost to replace our property. Worth is a long-term perspective. As with value, we think of worth as being stable across market price fluctuations, and so as somewhat intrinsic in the thing. We tend to imagine an ideal buyer, one who values the property as least as much as we do. If sale prices refuse to align with our expectation, we may have to adjust our idea of worth, but we can do this without having to change our judgment of value, what it is “worth to me."

The rx8 headlights yellow regardless if you’re garaged or not unfortunately. My track car has been garaged for the 13 years I’ve owned it… and still had yellowing of the lenses. Cleans up with a headlight restoration kit thankfully.

The factory coating, once removed by a headlight resto kit, will forever yellow, regardless of if it lives in a garage.

I would love to see this up on C&B

Just to follow-up--- as for the headlights, I have not done anything to them, I noticed the yellowing mainly started in the last year or so, right about the time I started to consider sellling and I figure the "right person" will want to restore them themself.

I will check out C&B, never was on there before. If anyone is interested let me know before I post there. I am not trying to gouge but I expect I can get more from someone that wants the car more than I would get from Carvana so I thought I would try listing here first.

I wouldn't think looking for top dollar for a car is price gouging at all. The market will define the value of these cars regardless. Look at the FD Rx7 (1993 to 1995), it's not that great of a car.. but the market has put a huge value to that car. I hope you get top dollar for it in the end. I'd buy it if I had the space and funds to be honest; I love that color and trim on Rx8. As time goes on more and more of these cars have fallen off of the market. Finding a low milage manual S2 is increasingly hard to find.

Fixing the dash crack requires replacing the airbag cover. Ultra common malady. My '09 has a clean dash, but I bought one and stashed it for down the road. Not too super pricey, and was easy enough to get online. That was a few years ago though.

I live in the Santa Cruz mountains and my headlights, even being a coastal area, are crystal clear and have been for the 4 years I’ve owned my 8. It’s kept outside. Usually the yellowing happens when people mistakenly polish them unessarily to begin with. Taking half a lemon dipped in baking soda and rubbing the lense in circular motions will get rid of yellowing and oxidation. May help buyers interest
