In Tampa Bay area, willing to travel for good deal. Looking for my first RX-8. I am selling a 2002 Ford Explorer and as soon as I sell it I am GOING to buy an RX-8. I am looking for a manual 6-speed under 15K and I will be financing. Anyone have any recomendations?

 

It will be hard to find something with under 15K mi but there are some out there. You will see that majority of 2004s have 20k-50k mi. Some people use RX8s as daily drivers, others as a weekend car. If you want something with low miles I'd recommend searching around and finding something garaged and was someones 2nd vehicle. Chances are that the car wasn't driven in inclement weather and is probably in great condition. When you use something as a daily driver you get in and out of a car fast, throw people and odd groceries etc in there. If it's your weekend car you keep it spotless and don't drive it much. I wish I could afford to have my 8 as a weekend car but I can't. You will probably be able to find something like that but expect to pay premium dollar for it. Not to say that daily driven 8s aren't worth buying.

 

I am looking under $15,000 miles isn't a huge concern. Preferably under 60K.

I found a dealer willing to extend a warranty to 200K miles. I know that the RX8 has a good reputation for long-life but that seems kind of hard to believe. Any opinions on that? I passed up the deal because he seemed kind of shady.

Sorry you had 15k mi on your post, you can probably find a base model around that price range. Seems like values have dropped this winter and with a new face lift coming I'm sure they will depreciate in value even more. Look around you might be able to find a steal, seems to be a lot of RX8s on the market so find someone just trying to get rid of their car.
