I am selling my 2004 RX-8, Black 6MT with 106,000 miles (mileage will go up slightly due to being my daily driver)

I am the second owner, I purchased this car with 66,000 miles from an older gentleman who lives in Wisconsin. He said he only drove the car in the summer and it was not until I bought it that it became a daily driver. He did smoke in it but I doubt anyone could tell unless I mentioned it. I dont smoke and I have never let anyone smoke in my car.

When I got it I replaced the battery and upgraded the starter. At about 70,000 miles I got an exhaust from Turbo XS. I also purchased a brand new O2 sensor to use for emissions.
When I put the cat back on I install the new O2 sensor and drive for a bit, then I go pass the smog test. After that I take the cat back off and replace the O2 sensor with an old one to make sure the new one does not get wear and tear for no reason. I have the whole stock exhaust that was taken off and never been used since I put the aftermarket one on.

I have a complete set of enkei fittipaldi wheels that I got from a guy on craigslist. They came with sporty summer tires and still have those on there. They are ok for the summer but there is no way you would want to drive on them during the winter. As for the stock wheels I have all 4 but one is broken from when I slid on the snow and hit a curb at like 5mph no damage anywhere but the wheel. I believe you could still drive on it, but since I have the other set I dont. The stock wheels are painted black with spray paint and the enkei wheels are black plastidip they are a nice aluminum finish underneath the dip. The enkei wheels were quite expensive and if its a deal breaker I could include them with the car. ( We can work out the details)

The front bumper has been debadged and repainted and all of the aero pieces were painted and installed by me after I got the car. I have the grill for the front bumper in perfect condition I just dont like what it looks like so I took it off.

The transmission was replaced at about 100,000 miles. I have the paper work for it if you would like to take a look. A brand new stock clutch was also installed at the same time. I also replaced the plugs and wires at around 95,000 miles, still have the old ones if you would like them as well.

Oil changes up to 100,000 miles were done only at Mazda. After that I started doing them myself, the oil was usually pennzoil or castrol and the filter was always mobil 1.
The engine is the original one that came with the car, people always seem shocked when I tell them that its the stock one but I have always topped the oil off and made sure to take proper care of the mechanical aspects of the car.

The car is lowered on Tein Street Basis coilovers, the rotors are drilled and slotted and they were installed at about 75,000 miles along with brand new brakes. With the fittipaldi wheels the widest tire I had on there was a 245 and if you had someone else in the car it rubbed over big bumps occasionally.

I have also replaced the stock head unit as you can see in the pictures, the rest of the audio system is stock. The only thing I use it for is the AUX cable to plug into my phone for music.

I have only put about 40,000 miles on the car in the time I have owned it and that was mostly highway miles when I worked at the airport.

The interior silver trim has been wrapped with 3M carbon fiber wrap. It can be easily removed. (See pictures for details) The interior of the car is in pretty good shape for the year, the back seats have been used like two times in the whole time I had the car.

While the car has never been to any race events I have done some spirited driving here and there in the summer. There is a reason the car has held up so well, and its because it take care of it so I can assure you there was no excessive abuse on the engine or any other part of the car.

Here are some bad things about the car. Since it was a daily driver, even in the winter it does have some rust under the car and on the rear quarter panels where the fenders were rolled in a bit. I tried touching it up to prevent it from spreading so it is somewhat contained. It really isnt that noticeable underneath just a bit on above the rear wheels as you can see in the pictures.

With the cat off it does throw a CEL but when I put it back it goes away so there is no problem there. However, recently a P2004 code came up and as far as I can tell the regular day to day operation of the car has not been affected. I spent quite a bit on the transmission so I didnt get that code fixed. The TPMS light is on because 2 of the 4 wheels dont have TPMS sensors installed. That will go away when you put the stock wheels on or get new tires.

The A/C needs to be refreshed a bit, last summer it started to not blow cold air so I got some of the A/C fluid to put in there and that lasted about 3 months. I have not done that this summer so for now the A/C does not work very well.

The last thing is a very small oil leak. I believe it is from the seam of the oilpan. But this oil leak is so tiny that you wont even notice any oil missing from the car because of topping the oil off regularly. You can barely notice it on the driveway and Im sure you could go in there and seal it up.

I am only selling the car because I will be attending college in Peoria and will not need a car, if I could I would keep it around and modify it later on after I graduated. Im not in a huge rush and I am open to negotiation about price. For that reason I will only take cash, no trades. I have the clean title in hand.
