I picked up this 2004 Mazda RX-8 with the intent of swapping a new block in, unfortunately i don't have the time anymore to do it and the car has just been sitting. I'am selling to to financial needs.
the body has 124,000 original highway miles. The engine has 29,000 on a mazda re-manufactured engine. The car starts, runs, and drives and all power/electronics work correctly. The coolant seals are gone and so it smokes a lot of white smoke. You could either have the coolant seals replaced, have the engine rebuilt (i can point you in that direction), or buy a new engine from mazda. I can provide a complete short block engine directly from Mazda for $2,500 that includes a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty. This is the cheapest and best option. I've done a few maintenance work to the car when i was troubleshooting such as new plugs, wires, coil packs, oil change, etc. This is a great chance to own a very clean rx-8 with potentially 0 miles on the engine for a great price. Included with the car is a set of stock 04 rims, and also 18" Kazera rims in great shape that were purchased through tire rack by the previous owner. The car also has the oem aero-kit which looks really nice with this color. everything is complete nothing missing, it starts and drives so its 100% complete and a great way to start a small project such as this. There are tutorials with detailed info step by step on how to swap the motor out usually within 3-4 hours. I live in pa, used to live in RI. Just wondering if it would make the 4-5 hour trip. Im interested. You have the spare block, just haven't had time to install? Anything else wrong with the car besides the seals?

i don't have a spare block (ran into financial issues to purchase one) i am able to get one from mazda for $2,500 (that includes a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty). i wouldn't suggest or recommend trying to drive it especially that far away. the coolant seals are gone it it smokes white wildly. and no theres nothing wrong with the car at all besides the seals its in great shape. give me a call or text 781-630-1026.
