I'm noticing spiderweb thin scratches in my paint. At first, I thought they were your normal spiderwebs, but the scratches are identical to the direction I apply the zaino in.

So, far..I've eliminated the applicators and towels because I've replaced each. Could I be applying too much pressure when applying the Zaino? I do have a tendency to use too much force when doing anything. Am I supposed to be applying Zaino with light pressure?

Zaino is non-abraisive, so it's can't be the Zaino. There is no need to use alot of pressure to apply Zaino, or to remove it.

What applicator pads are you using to apply it with, and what are yoy using to remove it.

i'm using the applicator that came with the order, the one from zaino. and i'm using a fieldcrest cotton towel to remove it. just like the website said i should use.

I assume the applicator and towels are clean. Just because a towel is washed does not mean it's clean. Especially with microfiber towels, they will pick up and HOLD things like dried grass. I carefully lay out and visually inspect my car towels and run my hands over them to feel for foreign objects before I use them.

Were the towels washed with liquid detergent or powder? Powder detergent can stay undissolved on towels and scratch paint.

It's definitely not the Zaino.

The terry applicator that came from zaino does scratch when you apply pressure or if you have a soft clear coat. I would recommend the meguiars foam applicator to apply zaino. Make sure you prep the pad first by spraying z6 or water to dampen the applicator. It'll make it easier to spread zaino easily. Hope this helps.

I use the Meguiars applicators (yellow foam pads) spryed with Z6 as well.

Question? Are you applying Zaino in a garage? This is important because if you are doing it outside perhaps small debris is settling on the Zaino as it is drying, and then getting ground into the paint.

i apply Zaino in the garage...i think it was me just pressing too hard..i made sure to apply Zaino lightly and there seems to be less scratches...although, i still can't seem to get the spiderwebs all out...oh well, still looks good.

Are you now using the swirl remover (Z5?) for the spiderwebs.

Also great point 6speed8 about the garage, I never thought about airborn debris.

i use Z-5, 3 coats on it right now..and it doesn't hide the spiderwebs...you can't seem them in the garage or mid-day...but, when the sun is glaring on the car, you can notice them..

Why would you say that?

I use a cocktail of different stuff from 3M and Meguiar's, but I have found the Zaino stuff to be really good, though overpriced.

Personally, I don't think Zaino is over priced. Granted there is a rather large start up cost, but you really can cover the entire car for 1/2 ounce (especially if you wet the applicator with Z6). So on a per coat cost it's not that expensive.

Baller, your post is useless without more info. What do you recommend? I've read several posts now where people slam Zaino but none that offer a substitute product or point to a study such as the one somewhere here Zaino came in first.

I won't "slam" Zaino... actually like it on white and silver, I just think it has too much of a "hard" shine for dark cars and is overrated in general.

I've been using something called Blackfire for a few years now. Looks unbelievable on red and black... nice deep gloss. Fairly durable. They finally solved their dust attraction problem.

As to the original question on spiderwebs, you're most likely using too much pressure both in application and buffing. Buffing especially should be very light pressure... if it takes alot of force to remove it, you're using too much of the product in application.

If you have read some of my other post I have said what the best is........I have been to the Pebble Beach Concours 8 times and if Zaino is mentioned most people are laughing, like Jay Leno.
Do some research from the people that win big shows, not just good marketing.......kind of like Bose, great marketing, just ok performance.

* Keep the applicator pads and towels clean and do not apply too much pressure while applying the polish. I agree with SLiM8: Z-6 on app pad really helps while applying z2/z5.
