Window Cleaner Suggestions??

I am having one heck of a time when it comes to cleaning the windows. No matter how hard I try I cannot seem to get these suckers clean. I always end up with a "smeared" haze on the windows like there is a thin coat of oil/film all over the windows. I seem to recall having the same problem on my RX-7 and don't know if it is simply a result of the oil burn from the rotary. If anyone has suggestions for what to buy off the shelf I would greatly appreciate it

There is one good one at the zaino web site for glass. It is called Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish. I just got it and it works pretty damn good!!

There's a good glass cleaner called "Glass Cleaner" by a company called Sprayway. Reall original, eh?

Anyway, this stuff is the best thing I've ever used on glass....no streaks or residue.

Here's the best part....it's cheap. I get mine at Costco.

I've tried all teh expensive stuff like Stoner's, etc. Still none of it is as good as the Sprayway product.

Zaino's Glass Polish would be good if you had pits and scratches in your windshield. It takes some elbo grease to use, too. Our cars are too new to really need something like that, though.

the problem you are facing is because of the dash material. I don't know much about why, but I have friends at Mazda corporate in Irvine CA, and I complained about the same thing. It happens on Japanese cars and is a common problem. It goes away soon and there is nothing that I have heard of that will make it go away any quicker. I thiought it was me or my rags and cleaning supplies too.

mikeb....I agree with you about "invisible glass". I used it a couple of times and was disappointed.

Matter of fact, I've used just about all of "Stoners" products and found them to be mediocre, at best.

What I found that work best:

1. Equal parts water and vinegar
2. "Glass Cleaner" by Sprayway

I dont get any streaking. Use a terry cloth or newspaper, will help.

I actually was pretty impressed with invisible glass. It made a huge difference from the other crap I was using. The key I found was using newspaper or lint free shop towels.

yeah the film on the inside comes from the materials used making the vinyl and plastics it is called 'off gassing' or something like that. The sprayway works very good. Stoners invisble glass works decent until you get to about one third left in the can, then it streaks (probably needs to be shaken real good). Try using either newspaper or microfiber towels. Also make sure the windows are cool to the touch and in not in direct sunlight.

Sprayway "Glass Cleaner" with newspaper to wipe off is the best.
Go to Costco the stuff is priced right and it works great.

I agree....I've used both the "sprayway glass cleaner" and the Stoner's invisible glass.

Sprayway is much better and much cheaper than the Stoner's.

I remember reading quite a few times that Armor All on plastic/vinyl creates a gas which fogs windows. Used it, watch it happen. Sucks but true.

Amorall also "dries out" vinyl and leather and causes cracking over time.

I use Griot's glass cleaner, which claims to be optical grade cleaner. It smells like isopropyl alcohol, but I haven't analyzed it to be sure. At any rate it works great.

What do you guys recommend for tinted windows? I've been told NOT to use newspaper as it will SCRATCH the film. Works great for non-tinted windows tho.....

Are microfiber towels good for window cleaning? What about car washing? I read some posts where people love them for Zaino applications...

Just curious...

I have been using Microfiber towels to do the interior dash and gauges that black shiny plastic material that surrounds the window buttons, along with all my windows for the last couple of weeks. They work great and pick up the dust. I have not used them on the finish, just because Zaino is so insistent about 100% cotton and I am not going to test on a black car.
