What to do about scraches
Hello all, I need some advice, I accidently closed the garage on the very end of my front bumper. The sensor didnt see my car in the wat as I was just past the sensor and the top part of the bumper was still in I guess. Cant believe it happened too. Anyways front bumper is scratched up, The scratches are really deep and some of it is passed the clear coat. What would be the best options? Thanks.

Oh...that blows!
Let's see the pics! If it's really bad, I'd be tempted to do the whole bumper.
You don't have a rubber seal on the bottom of the door?
This is why I have the old tennis ball with a few 4oz barrel sinkers in it hanging down in the garage.
I actually used one of those screen door wheels to act as a pulley for the line to ride on/in and is mounted into the roof of the garage. Tied the other end of the line to the release mechanism plate arm that engages with the chain and attaches to the door.
Door open, ball down, pull in until ball touches windshield, and I know I have about 3-4 inches of clearance in the back.

If they are thin scratches then no need to put clear coat over. Once you polish it you wont even notice it. I have noticed it is hard to put a clear coat cause its hard to fill it to be exactly level with the rest of the clear coat. I found its best to just use the paint. It looks alot better than touch up paint with tabs of clear coat over it .. TRUST ME !!! I had to redo all my chips when i got my langka kit.

Pulling in I dont have a problem. But I backed out and thought my car cleared the garage because the sensor didnt pick up my car in the way but the door still went down. Their pretty deep scratches. I do have the rubber thing I think, dont know how it scratched it up so badly

Alright i see what you mean. Its gone past the clear coat. You can try touching it up with paint then adding clear coat but it would be REALLY tough to get everything to blend and youll definitely be able to tell you touched it up becuase the light will hit the new clear coat differently. Sorry to say this but best thing you can do is get the whole bumper re painted

I was like maybe this is a sign to buy a new bumper. I been wanting the Mazdaspeed for a while but can only get it in primer and spraying it to match is rediculously expensive. I was thinking Carbon Fiber bumper so I dont have to paint but none fit well as a read. Damn. I can try touch up and as long as it aint noticeable from 5 feet it should be fine. Or I can wrap it in carbon fiber haha.

Yeah, I use a small teddy bear for my aunt's garage- like the tennis ball.
