What % tint?
#27
My rear window they did in one piece, so, rotor8u, it is possible to have it done in a single piece, but if it is huber optics tinting, it wont look as good, due to the thicker material used, but it is better quality, but if you go for a low quality tint, it will turn purplish, and bubble in a few years... which is why you see so many tint jobs looking pretty bad
I would just be sure that whoever you have do it, just ask about warranties and junk like that. Make sure that the tint has a lifetime warranty so in case it does turn purple or bubble, you can have it replaced.

This is 5% on both my vehicles. Its illegal as hell but unless you give the officer another reason to write ya they dont worry about it. Now if you live in a state that requires inspection stickers like here in Texas try a little trick I've used before. First try to find a friend who has a friend who does inspections....hehe, if not I just roll all the windows down when I go there....they have never rolled them up.
I have to do the 5% I worked nightshift way too long. As Gizmo once said "Ahhhh Bright lights! Bright Lights!"

No Gods For Me
FYI, I just had my car tinted using Huper Optik Ceramic 40 on all side and rear windows. I also had Ceramic 50 applied to my sun roof. I didn't want that any darker but I wanted the UV and IR protection.
I'll take a picture later when the tint finishes curing (est. 2-3 weeks). The tint installer said HO tint is great but because it is about twice as thick as normal tint, it takes longer to cure.
By the way, with HO C-40 tint, my windows measured 33% VLT, +/- 3% meter error. I felt it was close enough to my state's 35% minimum. It certainly was within the error margin.

My installer is very good, and did a very, very clean job. I asked him about the rear window, and he said it was a B*@#$ to work with, but he did very well with it.
I dont know about everyone else, but he had to do install the rear in 3 pieces, so i can slightly see the 2 creases at night.

The place I had mine done at had a computer cut all the parts, so they were dead accurate - each window was done by a single piece of tint.
It's 18% all around.

Same here... the first place I called wanted to do the rear in two pieces, so I checked around until I found a shop that would do it in once piece. They said it was a bitch, but they did a great job.

That's not too bad at all. I was afraid it would cost $300 or something.
So, what should I look for in a good tint job?
I want to go right up to the legal limit in VA, which is 35% all around.
I should want computer-cut pieces....or as few seams as possible, or something? I'm just guessing here. Enlighten me

18% back windows 35% front windows, tint is Formula One and has a ridiculously high reflective rate, makes a huge difference and looks pretty sweet, unfortunately as it was the highest grade film it was pretty pricey =(

I am in S. FL. I have 13% all around. Looks great. Would not want it any lighter or darker. It is illegal but I have had illegal tint on my past 3 cars and have never had any problems.
Paid $149 for titanium based black tint which will not turn purple but would interfere with the NAV system if I had it. Lifetime warranty.
