Tire cleaning

What do you guys do to keep your tires clean and black. I know there are the sticky gooks that make them look super great for the first 24 hours and then after that they have all kinds of dirt and dust stuck to them. Anything else you guys recommend? It seems like the more I wash it with soap and water, the more it becomes a lighter color turning more towards a red or brown. I'm game for comments.

I wash with soap and water to get most of the dirt and grime off the sidewalls. I then use a sponge to apply either Zaino Tire Gloss or 303 Protectant, leave it sit for a few minutes, then buff dry. My tires have stayed black, not turned dull gray.
