RX8 car cover

Has anyone purchased any RX8 car covers on ebay? If you have, who was the seller and type of cover and did it fit properly??? Was the quality OK and worth buying?

Thanks to any replies.

EsCoBaR1 08-15-2005 02:59 PM

I thought about buying one but they all ranged about $200.....too much for me and the material looks really thin so i didnt think itd work down here its always raining...... so i ended buying one at autozone. But I read that those covers do fit really tight just go to mazdatrix or mazdaparts they got em there

Johnboy 08-16-2005 08:08 AM

Just purchased one on ebay...kind of cheap but thought I would try it. It is supposed to be a custom fit. I don't have it yet but will let everyone know how it is when or if it comes.

EsCoBaR1 08-16-2005 02:58 PM

Cool, hey could you pm on how the car cover works out (Im curious to know how the material and everythin is). Im kinda thinkin bout buying one now my other car cover has been rained on so many times that im pretty sure its dirty from the inside too so i think im goin to have to make another purchase

Johnboy 08-16-2005 08:58 PM

Got my cover here:

http://www.bigskycarcovers.com/

I am a big fan of the cover they built for me. Even sent it back and had more gromets added.

kmg1186 10-09-2005 11:39 AM

Just installed my RX8 car cover for the first time. I was hearing all these stories on how hard it was to put the cover on because of tightness issues. It was really no problem for me I had it on in less than a minute. It fits like a glove, very very nice. Now when I come back from school on Thanksgiving I'll report back on how well it held up against the elements over the next 7 weeks. :)

Booster MPS 10-11-2005 02:54 PM

Be sure to tie it down if you are gonna leave it for an extended period.

I'm considering it but I've got the appearance pkg AND Mazdaspeed Wing.

I'm thinking it might not fit... :(

I think it will probably fit. I have appearance w/ stock wing and it fits.

mauroavella 10-18-2005 08:27 AM

I think the best way to find out is just to go to the dealer and get them to try it on the car, tell them you have fittment questions and that's it. I really don't think it will fit the MS wing or even the MS front, I'm just assuming but by the way it looks in the pics I've seen It fits almost exactly to the stock car. Interesting to see pics of it wirh any body mods

Johnboy 10-18-2005 03:47 PM

I have the one from ebay....CENTRALCOVER was the vendor. It fits ok and is a good deal for the $23 US plus shipping cost. It's more for sun protection than rain as the water does get through. I guess thats why it's called breathable. It's called a BULDGE or BUDGE I think and apparently you can get them at Walmart in the US. It's definately not a custom fit but does the job for me.

WantedTwo 11-02-2005 08:02 PM

I have the official Mazda cover and my baby was left outside for a month and the cover still looks brand new. I'm in the military and am away from home ALOT (1/5 of last year, I was gone 2.5 months) and this year it looks like 8 months gone so I oped for the "good" cover. Paid 200 bucks to porshapadox or something like that.

midlife crisis 11-03-2005 03:50 PM

I have the Budge - got it at Wally world. I believe its size 2. Fits very well but I use it only as an "in garage" cover to keep dust and bugs (car is under a skylight) off when the 8 is clean.

Catspaw 11-03-2005 04:44 PM

The OEM car cover will not fit the Mazdaspeed kit, I called them and asked about this. I'm considering just going to Kragen or something to get a cover because I have to park outside at work ):

Sea Ray 11-03-2005 04:58 PM

I have the evolution cover which is very soft and slightly quilted looking so it offers a bit of protection from door dings. I use it out side but then use a cheapie Walmart one as a dust cover in the garage. I think I got it at carcoverworld.com

I had the Mazda cover but it was very tight and was not very soft on the inside and I was afraid it might scratch if put on a dusty car.

I am in the Coast Guard, and when we leave for patrols (2-3 months) they always reccommend to not use a car cover because dirt can get under them and then it will end up scratching the car pretty bad.. has anyone ever had this happen? I would assume if you had a good fitting cover and it was properly tied down it wouldnt be a problem.. I always notice though that when we get home all the car covers are no longer on the cars and just laying on the ground next to the car.. I guess they need to get a better fitting one, or find a way to secure it better.

salituro64 11-30-2005 03:15 PM

Does the OEM RX8 cover come lined with flanel or something? What is the outside made of?

Thanks

Rotary Rasp 12-01-2005 01:57 PM

I've had the mazda cover for over a year. I has faded a little, but i think that is from me washing it once a month in the washer. The cover fits great (I don't have the spoiler or app. package). If you keep your car some what clean you don't need to worry about it scratching the paint. The cover is not water proof but will keep light dew off of the car. The inside a not very soft, but like I said, it hasn't left any marks on my paint over the past year and I use it every night. I cover is thin, strong, and light. It comes with a nice storage bag too. I paid $195 and would buy it again.

Thanks. I may have to consider California Car Covers.

Why? I was recommending the cover...lol :)

Everything about it sounds great, but California Car Cover makes a cover that is lined in Flannel and is slightly cushioned. It's also a custom fit per your car. It's strictly for indorrs, so weather proof is not a concern. Mostly dust and slight scratches from people brushing up against it with there heavy winter coats.

Thanks for your input.

I'm still debating :Wconfused Is the cover strechy, like with Lycra? Also, is the lining like cotton or flannel? I know you said it's not that soft, but what is it lined with?

Thanks again.

brtzrx8 03-15-2006 03:59 AM

Does anyone know if it is okay to leave the car cover on in the rain? I have heard that it will cause scratches on your car. I am not sure how true this is however.

I have the Mazda car cover, and it looks great. The inside is not lined with fannel, but the material looks smooth enough not to scratch.

Thanks in advance.

For my planned Exterior Winter (snow/sleet) coverage it looks like the California Car Cover Superweave would be well superior to the Madza cover. Anyone have any similar experience?

GoesLikeStink 07-19-2006 03:26 PM

Can someone post pics of the various one (Mazda, california etc.) actually on their cars just so we can see the fitment?

Thanks.

salituro64 07-20-2006 11:56 AM

I have no pictures and the cover has been put away, but I chose the Superweave. I keep it covered in the garage so I can't say how it holds up outside. They claim it's their top of the line cover. I purchased it because it's strong, lightweight and can be washed. Fit's great, maybe not as snug as the OEM, but snug enough. I veered from the OEM because of how tight they said it was. My cover is a bright Red to go with my car and I had them stitch 2004-RX8 (inlcuded) on the nose. I may have paid for an extra letter. They did a great job.

Huey52 09-07-2006 12:59 PM

I went ahead and got the California Superweave for Winter storage. Should have it next week.

anthonyallred 10-29-2013 05:15 PM

Any recommendations as far as size for a generic one? What are the 8's measurements. Maybe ill measure myself.....

Jake33 11-06-2013 08:32 PM

got a NOAH for sale if youre interested. barely used. made specially for our cars. soft and beads water :)

felgen4 11-11-2013 02:57 PM

I just picked one up at Wally Mart, I believe it was size 2 of the cheaper cover they sold, fits well and I am happy with it, my car is in the garage for the winter, cover was 20 bucks.

Roidz 03-24-2014 10:43 AM

Anyone know if the Mazdagear cover fits the R3? Car Cover - K01 - RX-8

Also, how does it hold up outside?

Carbon8 03-31-2014 08:47 PM

Be weary of where you buy your "OE" car cover. I have two Mazda car covers and one is cheaply made with no soft touch material, and the other is of high grade material.

Both came with the car I purchased though so I have no idea where they originally came from.

Shoot, I just bought the one from Mazda gear. Hopefully it's made of the high grade material. It should be, cost $250 with shipping

Carbon8 03-31-2014 10:33 PM

Post some pics, I want to buy another one but do not know who sells the good quality ones.

Alright, I just bought it Sunday so I'll post some pics when I get it, hopefully later this week

Carbon8 05-03-2014 07:56 AM

Did you receive your cover? How did it turn out?

I did but it didn't fit my R3 so I sent it back. It seemed like a nice cover and good material but I couldn't even get it over the back of the car.

Roidz 06-05-2014 02:29 PM

Just ordered a custom fit cover from California Car Cover. It's being made so I should have it in a couple weeks. Should fit a lot better than the OEM one I bought and sent back.

Carbon8 06-05-2014 02:38 PM

My guess is you did not loosen it, my OE cover fits my GT with wing and yours is not bigger than mine. It is extremely tight, but it is supposed to be.

Roidz 06-05-2014 03:43 PM

I dunno man, maybe, but it was insanely tight. It was like a 300 lb dude putting on a toddler's shirt

looks like a nice cover, congrats.
just be careful putting the cover on if your car is dirty, i always wipe down the car with quick detailer before putting a cover on and do not pull the back end down over the exhaust tips. :FIREdevil:

Thanks. It fits a lot better than the other one I bought. And that's a good idea, I always make sure I just cleaned it before I put the cover on.

Olorin2 06-24-2014 10:04 AM

So, when you're ordering from their site, the form asks if you have any modifications to the exterior of the car. If you note that you have the MS bodykit like I do, how do they make sure it fits?
