need advice on fixing paint chip

well, after spending 6 hours yesterday cleaning/claying/waxing (2 coats) i managed to scratch my passenger side wheel well while pulling out of my garage!!; talk about murphys law!!; well after spending last night calming down, im ready to start thinking about fixing it; im gonna post some pics below and would like advice; will the fact that the scratch is vertical make it more difficult?; i was thinking of using a dremel tool to lightly sand the area before using several layers of primer and touch up paint;
any advice?; any helpful links?; pls advise; thanks

If you are just interested in a touch up then thats the way to do it. Wet sand the area very gently with some 2000 grit paper to knock down the sharp edges, and compound it back with a buffer. apply primer, color, and then clear. the trick is to be very patient and allow each coat to dry fully before applying another. I suggest walking away and doing something else. (watch a pot and it never boils) the type of brush you use can make a big difference as well. Your local auto body supplier sells horse hair brushes that are very fine tipped. This will really help you keep it clean. Also remember less is more dont just gob on the paint, wipe the brush a couple of times before applying to the car. Its better to do it in multiple coats. good luck!

Yup... use a fine roud tooth pick and SLOWLY apply the paint. DO NOT rush it. after fine sanding (2000 grit), apply first layer thent he second after the first layer is cure (wait till the next day atleast). after the third layer it should be leveled. make sure you dont exactly level it because you still have to sand it down to matcht he original paint. so apply it till its above the original paint a bit. after your done hand sand the area with 2000 grit LIGHTY after you let it cure for 2-3 days (atleast). after 200 grit sand it with 2800+ grit... after that you apply polishing compound to clean up the tiny scratches made by the sand paper.

Yeah. Murphy's Law alright. Four months after getting my 8, I was going to AutoZone to get some different wax to try out on the car and I got into an accident and then after that got fixed up I spent all day waxing before I took a trip down to my friend's house in Maryland and parked under a tree where the sap ate top coat off in splotches on my car. I was reallyyy happy (just kidding).

Don't use the dremel you need to sand it with a flat surface, like a sanding block or a pc. of would wild sand paper wrapped around it.

Don't use a brush. That area looks way too large. Mask off and spay it.

Razz, your typos are getting in the way of understanding. Please be more careful.

". . .or a piece of wood with sandpaper . . . "

I know it shouldn't have. That's what ticked me off.

Oh well... I'm getting it fixed soon anyway.
