Okay, so I finally took the Zaino challenge...

The Ultimate Protection Pkg comes with directions on how to zaino your car for the first time.

Here's my question:

My plan is to zaino my car every weekend for 5 straight weeks. (my arms will have fallen off by then)

After the initial application, what do I need to do?
Just break out the Z2 after every wash and go at it??

I shouldn't need to clay bar again, should I?

Any advice from experience zaino users?

You are right only clay bar one time, on the intial applications, because if you clay again you will strip the Zaino back off. Putting on a coat of Z2 for 5 straight weekends should make that think look awesome. I have noticed myself that if I can get a coat on the car and let bake on the next day that it lasts for a really long time. The more time the product has to cure the better I think.

Hmmm, maybe I'm not letting the polish cure for long enough. I noticed yesterday when I was washing my car that the water wasn't beading very well, even though I've applied at least 2 coats of Zaino within the past 3 months. I had a lot more on there but I think they got washed off by my dealer.

You can do up to 3 layers of Zaino each weekend if you like. If your arms are sore, you're not doing something right. Zaino just wipes on, and wipes off, there is no 'rubbing' and you don't need to put pressure on it as there are no abrasives.

Since you have already done the initial application here's what you might consider doing (this is my routine):

Wash the car with Z7 carwash, dry thoroughly and then mix some Z2 (Pro) in the ZFX bottle with approx 2/3 Z2 and 3 drops of ZFX. Shake well and let site for about 5-15 mins. While the polish is sitting, Detail spray the car with Z6, and when done, start Polishing with Z2, but first spray the applicator with Z6. Put on a VERY VERY light coat, let 'cure' for approx 20-30 mins and then wipe off. If you did everything right, the 'cured' Z2 will just wipe off. Detail spray again and apply the second coat of Z2, repeat procedure above. I use Z2 on the wheels as well.

After the last coat of Z2 has been wiped off, detail spray with either Z6 or Z8 - your choice.

The next weekend you can do the same. Zaino REALLY starts to impress after 5 coats. Zaino really does not take much time to apply and remove, and with ZFX the 'cure' or 'drying' time is not bad. Surely you can do other things while the Z2 is curing. ( I do work around the house or yard, or laundry, etc...)

I use Good Quality microfiber cloths for removing Zaino.

Doesn't hurt to leave it on for awhile either. Even though I used the ZFX, I let it sit for about an hour, come back, repeat... used Clay, Z2/Z6, Z5/Z6, Z2, Finished with Z8. Total time about 4-5 hours from wash to wax.

Was slacking a bit the last few months, and didn't have time to wax it until last weekend... afterwards, the effects are AMAZING.

I've used Mother's and Meguiar brands before, but Zaino is seriously sick. Watch the beading effect after 3-5 consecutive wax jobs. I was bored and Zainoed the rims.. Brake dust flies right off.

You should only have to clay your car 1 time before adding coats of Z/2-5........If you have to re-clay you probably didn't do a good job the first time. Claying removes defects from the paint and removes some of the wax also....

Zaino says to wash, then Z6 the car. This will ensure there is a smooth clean coat to act as the base for the next coat. Then apply the next coat. Only thing to remember is to wait at least 11 hrs. between coats. I presume this is to let the stuff "harden".

So much MIS-INFOMATION here, perhaps that is why some people are not sure about Zaino?

You don't have to wait 11 hrs between coats, and you don't have to leave it on longer than 20 minutes, although you can leave it on overnight if you want.

The following is taken right off the Zaino site: (Please READ)

Applying ZFX™ Enabled Show Car Polish
Follow these easy steps:

Apply Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX™ with a 100%, made in the USA, cotton applicator. Use the polish sparingly. A small amount goes a long way, and you will be applying multiple coats.

Squirt a dime size dab of polish on your applicator and rub it into your paint using circular hand motions. Then, go over the same area using a straight back and forth motion on top panels and an up and down motion on side panels. Allow the polish to haze over (20 minutes is sufficient).

Buff off the Show Car Polish residue with a high quality, 100%, made in the USA, cotton detailing towel. (I use Microfiber cloths and they work fine)

After buffing, spray the car with a light mist of Z-6 Ultra Clean™ detailing spray. Z-6 will help buff away any remaining residue and enhances the brightness of the finish. Using Z-6, the next coat of Zaino Show Car Polish will apply even easier.
You're now ready to apply your next coat of Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX™. There's no need to wait. Simply follow steps 1-4 above one more time. Use a fresh cotton buffing towel to remove each coat of ZFX™ enabled Show Car Polish.

Note: Apply no more than three coats of Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX™ in a 24 hour period. For optimum results, use your ZFX™ enabled polish within 6 hours of mixing. Use a fresh cotton buffing towel for removal of each coat.

I don't think there are any 100% cotton U.S.-made towels left on the market. Cannon and Fieldcrest moved their manufacturing offshore.

I did a complete clay and full Zaino polish on my 8 about ten months ago. To date, I've only clayed the front bumper once since then. I use only Z7 to wash (almost every weekend) with Z6 to finish. I also apply (as directed) two coats of Z2pro/ZFX (with Z6 in between) every second month. This "schedule" has provided brilliant long lasting Zaino results!

Please do not assume what you read is gospel. Also from the Zaino site:

"6. Let Z-5 or Z-2 PRO polish dry at least one hour. Please NOTE: Zaino Show Car Polish works best at 60 degrees or higher. However, it can be applied down to temperatures of 45 degrees. It just will take much, much longer to dry. As much as two to three hours drying time is required if the temperature is 50 degrees or below. Also, If the humidity is high. Longer drying time is necessary. Humidity is a killer on the drying time of Z-2 PRO or Z-5. The moisture in the air hinders drying time up to four times longer than normal. Sorry, but I can't help this. When you try to remove Z-2 PRO or Z-5 when it is still wet. All you're accomplishing is moving it around. Kinda like reapplying it. Also you need to use a LARGE White 100% Bath size towel (please refer to my Tips & Tricks sheet on my web site for the proper towels to use) to remove Z-2 PRO or Z-5. Smaller towels will not work efficiently.

To test if Z-2 PRO or Z-5 is dry and ready to be removed. Wipe your finger on a hazed section. It should immediately come off and leave a crytal clear finish. If it smears, it is still wet. You can leave Z-2 PRO or Z-5 on for hours or overnight if you desire. When it is not humid Z-2 PRO will take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to dry. Depending on how heavy you applied it. I have applied Z-2 PRO in the Arizona sun and it dried in approx. 3 to 5 minutes. I have also applied it in 38 degree temperature and it took about 2 to 3 hours to dry. Be patient. It's worth it. Different situations affect drying times. Also, remember you have Z-1 and Z-5 both on the car. That is two products that have to dry at one time. Takes longer. Z-2 PRO or Z-5 does not cotain any oils and once it's dry will never ever look smeary or feel greasy. If you remove Z-2 PRO or Z-5 before it is thoroughly dry and get any smears. Just wipe down the car with a damp cotton towel. This will remove any smears. Don't use Z-6 until you wipe the car down. If you'd like call me and I'll help you out with more info!
Note: If you are using the New ZFX accelerator additive drying time is greatly reduced.

7. After removal of Zaino Z-2 PRO or Z-5. You should wait 24 hours if the outside temperature is under 70 degrees and 6 hours if over 70 degrees, before applying the next coat of Z-5 or Z-2 PRO."

I have found waiting a day between coats makes a big difference! Try it and you'll see it works!

I'm very new to waxing cars. I'm scared to death to leave swirls on my new car.

Well, when you say wait a full day between coats, do you drive or you leave your car in the garage for a whole day before another coat? I'm assuming if you drive, the car will pick up dirt from the air, and i'm guessing that dirt will give you swirls when you rub a new coat on the car. I'm stupid please answer my question. thanks.

Even if you don't drive it dust will settle on it. It needs to at least be dusted before the next coat, though if you use Z6 on it that will clean it off. The Z6 is sprayed on and immediatly wiped off. Small areas at a time so it doesn't dry on the car. Also, if you use straight motions (fore aft on horizontal surfaces and up/down on vertical surfaces) you will not get swirl marks, just straight marks.

You can clay bar anytime you want. The first time is the most important. Claying WILL NOT remove all of your zaino.

It's imperative that you read the Zaino recommendations when using. The biggest misconception is, more the better. You should not have sore arms after zainoing. Even three coats in one day, you should not feel any effects except for the smile on your face.
