Meguiars Products....EXcellent
Now that this is a sticky I must say that I only use Meguiar's products on my car. There is no need to switch or use different products from different companies.
http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/fo...ewProducts.jpg So far I have used: NXT: which is an Excellent quick alternative to a full wax job. Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner: which has made my leather look newer than when I first picked my car up at the dealers. Gold Class Car wash and Deep Crystal Car Wash: which has removed all possible contaminants from my paints surface. Scratch X Remover: which helped substancially remove a scracth my 2 yr old did with a rock when my car was 2 days old. Good for swirls also. Meguiars Smooth Surface™ Clay KitRemoves above surface contaminants and restoring a smooth surface. Mirror Glaze which polishes the car: worked ok for me but was too much work and needed to be buffed out properly or white marks would show. However still worth the process. Meguiar's How To Center... Car Detailing Video: http://www.meguiars.com/video/ Scroll down to car care videos on their website... Car Detailing: 1. Washing- removes the dirt and contaminants Wash and Dry with car soap only. Other soap removes your wax finish. 2. Cleaning- clay bar the car if there are bonded contaminants/car has a rough surface. Removes: Tree sap mist, dust, road film, bird droppings, etc. Paint finish should be as smooth as glass before you wax your car. 3. Polishing and Waxing- Polishing gives brilliance to your cars surface. Waxes protect your paints surface. 4. Maintaining- Quick detailer removes dirt in between washing and waxing http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...a_023/Wax1.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...ha_023/wax.jpg Meguiar's...taken from another thread...

this could not be more wrong. meguiars uses diminishing abrasives to remove scratches and swirlmarks. that is, that the microscopic cleaning components of the product break down even smaller as you work them in, turning from a cleaning action, which removes swirls, to a polishing action, which restores gloss.
You are right in polishing first, however. any product designed to protect and add shine to the paint, whether its labeled a wax or sealant, will yield greater results when the surface is prepped properly. That is, removing above surface contaminates via claybar, and removing below surface defects, such as scratches, waterspots, bird etchings, oxidation, etc. My gripe over the cost of zaino is that for the same price as their sealant system or whatever you want to call it, i can remove all imperfections from the paint, protect it, and still have money left over for gas lol. Posted Sept. 6, 2007 Hi all, Just bought a cordless polisher & Meguiars new Tech Wax. I was unsure at first because it cost $30 here in Canada. That was the best $30 I've ever spent! This pic was just taken so it's a night shot but look at the shine!! Can't wait to see it in the daytime!! http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...arsTechWax.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...iresShine1.jpg |
meguiar's nxt is great. smells great too!
|
I love Meguiar's NXT, probably the best product per $ on the market. I use it on every car except my 8 which Zaino will only grace its clearcoat. NXT is a WHOLE lot easier to use than Zaino though.
|
that's cuz nxt is only a sealant while zaino is like... every step. haha
|
yeah but nxt still makes the car really shiny for just a sealer! I have to agree with Ngo, it smells great...so great you could almost get high
|
haha. yes, my wheels smell great. ;)
|
lol! i use them on my wheels too!
|
I used NXT on my black Lexus and it did wonders for the shine.
Come to think of it, I've got the day off tomorrow and I think I'm going to spend it clay barring and putting on a couple coats of NXT. Can you believe I've had my car for 11 months now and I still haven't waxed it yet? I must be crazy. |
I purchased some NXT last week for AUS $49. It was a bit steep in price but its worth every cent.
The colours haven never been so rich as before...and it also removes the light scratches on the duco. Highly recommended. |
NXT is great..............love it and the smell as well. :lol2:
|
NXT is one of my favorites on red. Good stuff for off the counter products.
|
|
Meguiars is also done in less than and hour!! No white marks or any of that caking from other types of wax.

I'm a big fan of the NX TechWax as well. I've used almost a dozen wax products so far.... I would start with a fresh layer of NuFinish coat. NuFinish protects the paint better than Tech Wax... BUT afterwards the Techwax is the prefered wax for the cost, it seriously is my favorite, and a lot of people have said the same thing. Cheers! |
Meguiars also has an affordable clay bar kit for $20 (2 bars in a case, spray cleaner, cleaner wax, and a dry towel).

you would be amazed at how easy and how well it works.. beers  |
as long as you keep it lubricated and keep folding it around it works fine. Oh and if you buy any and your lubricant runs out, just use car soap and water, their lubricant is probably the same thing. It works great at taking off little spots of tree sap.

coupled with NXT Speed Detailer for in-between wax and u're good to go.

NXT is ok for a polymer. But if you really want your flake to sparkel, I use Poorboy's Natty Paste wax (blue). The depth and flake will astound you. I have 4 layers on my car from this past summer and it's still as smooth as butter. http://www.poorboysworld.com/natty-blue.htm
|
poorboys is good whenever i take my car to get cleaned they use poorboys and it looks wet.....but today i used the nxt for the first time...i already had a coat of meguires gold class and then a coat of next ......its the best my car has ever looked its really a nice deep wet look
|
WOW leesha nice job!....

Kissing ass I see... jks.... Thanks!! Dozer...:yesnod: |
seriously!you did a damn good job...even on a night photo that shit looks glossy and really smooth.....that comin from a person who washes and waxes at least once a week....to bad i have had the chance to do that to my car, it gets to dark tooooo early to even start on it....
|
You wash and wax once a week?
Oh, forgot to mention longevity. NXT is great for short term and a quick shine, but again it sure does not beat a pure carnuba wax for a long lasting shine and protection. Here's my plan for spring time. Porter Cable 7424 for waxing. Process: 1. Wash 2. Dry 3. Claybar 4. Wash again 5. Dry again plus forced air to remove any excess water 6. Tape all moldings, plastic, etc. 9. PB SSR1 with light cutting pad (I might try Griot's Garage Machine Polish 3) 10. Wipe off 11. PB EX-P by hand 12. Wipe off 13. Natty's Paste Wax (blue) by hand 14. Wipe off This leaves a finish on your car that'll last for many months. |
Meguiars cetainly has great productsd, as does Mothers. But for a sealant I prefer Ice as I can go right over black/clear plastic parts without any residue.
A couple times a year I go with a high content carnuba wax (Griot's Garage Best of Show). Note: "pure" carnuba is a misnomer, as if it were truly pure you couldn't apply it (solid). ;) |
True, and the fact that very pure carnuba wax costs an arm and a leg. What I meant was using a carnuba wax and not a polymer.
|
^^If your as busy as I am then NXT is good for my needs. I will hire you to do my next real wax job but you have to do it like Linda's avatar...you know the naked guys carwash... :rollingla:

I used NXT for the first time today. Looks good. I got a meguiars car kit which includes NXT, tire gel, wheel cleaner, scratchX, detailer, interior cleaner, and a pad for $15 at walmart.
|
quick question.
just got the meguiars quik detailer (in the black bottle if they got more than one) is that a clearcoat/wax sealer? |

I do believe that is just for quick touchup jobs inbetween your regular wax job... Look on the Meguiars site and they have video's of how to detail your car properly and how to use their products along with descriptions...
at first, i was very unsatisfied... and just yesterday used it after applying thin wax to the car. and i noticed the change in texture IMMEDIATELY! it went from slick/smooth to somewhat dry and grippy like if i used windex on it...very shocked. but after this tip, i suppose i'm suppose to use it like its a "soap-less" car wash. THEN, apply wax after to get the slick/smooth texture back. *sigh* what can you say? common mistakes in product useage procedure from a new car care newbie. |
Quik Detailer®
Meguiar's® Quik Detailer® has been an enthusiast favorite for years. Quik Detailer keeps a waxed car looking "just waxed". Clear coat safe, Meguiar's Quik Detailer removes harmful contaminants before they damage your finish. Use Quik Detailer right after your car is sprayed by a water sprinkler, hit by a bird dropping, or exposed to any other condition that ruins your "just waxed" appearance. The safe, high lubricity formula lifts off dirt and grim without scratching while enhancing gloss without build up. Details a full sized car in less than 15 minutes! http://www.meguiars.com/?car-maintenance/Quik-Detailer |
Anyone who can take care of a VR like you has got to be right.
|
Just used their clay bar, gold class wash, and the 3 step wax process. Definately worth the money. The car looks great. I didn't realize their was soo many contaminants on my finish before using their clay bar.

Rides looks great! Hey Fanatic, You should try to make a show I'm organizing in San Jose on April 6; help represent the Bay Area 8s. http://www.sjfos.com/home.html I contacted Meguairs in early January for event sponsorship of the car show segment but no word yet. Need more "Car Crazy"s... been a satisfied Meguairs user for more years than I want to admit.:eyetwitch |
Count me in.... :) They can use my car as their pace car...
|
Good job Leesha! :)
I bathe my 8 with Meguair's Gold wash, Mother's Claybar to get her slick and smooth, then go over with Meguair's Gold class paste wax for good protection, then apply a quick wipe of NXT. Works wonders on VRs. |

They're a combo of adhesive vinyl and vinyl on magnetic stock. If you're careful and dont leave them on too long there is no noticable effect on the paint. I apply fresh wax before a major sponsorship/graphic change (1 to 4 times / year).
