Zymol is the best natural wax that is readily available. Order at zymol.com. Carbon will do for most applications. Higher wax content than anything else, once you get used to using it, no problem. Any paste wax is harder to work with than a cream, but the result is night and day. If you are going to use a paste, you might as well buy the best and trash your supply of meguiars.

RotaryNoob--I just found this thread and read your post from a week ago about using the PC. I've read a lot about it on this and other forums and have been intrigued about it. Your very clear and specific instructions boost my confidence. Got to get one!!

Okay, I have a question about a product called Commodore Coatings Millennium Paint Sealant.
Website is here.
What do you think? And what do you make of their claim that you don't need to wax, just apply the renewer every spring and fall. But my major concern is, what happens if I just use regular wax over this?

the techs at maguires said that sealants arent really good for new paints. they said that it causes the paint to loose the oils it needs...... to me, it makes sense, your sealing up the paint , nothing in nothing out......

That's interesting, considering NXT is a sealant.
Don't buy Commodore. I looked into it a few months ago because someone here several months ago had the same curiosity. When I did a search at Autopia, the product turned out to be mostly a scam; at best, a waste of money.

Oh, well since you already bought it, give it a shot! It won't hurt your paint, from what I've read. If it doesn't please you, just top it with something else, like Zaino or NXT. I'd actually be interested to see how it looks and if it works. Maybe coat half of your hood with Commodores and the other half with something else. And post pics of your results!

I broke down and bought a bottle of EO Nano Wax last week. I'll post a comparison pic with NXT and maybe with the Meg's #16. I can't do it now because it's been raining and I think it's best to apply a second coat before making an objective comparison, but hopefully the skies will clear up soon and I can post pics after this weekend.

Brand new (2004) BLACK RX-8
I'm picking it up tomorrow. This is my first new car since I bought my 1987 Camry, which didn't have a clear coat (and still doesn't).
What do I do with a new car? The old ones, they said, shouldn't be waxed till the paint set. I imagine that with a 2004 that wouldn't be the case, even without a clear coat.
So, do I wax it or leave it? The dealer should have it waxed, I imagine. I'm also getting a couple of coupons for detailing, which I assume is for later on.
If I do wax it, what do I use? Classic Car Wax doesn't seem to be the popular choice anymore. What's best for black? I've seen different opinions here, and it's a little confusing getting back into the game after almost 20 years.

I bought my 04 black 8 4 months ago and the worst mistake I made was letting the dealer wash the car. It came home with more swirls than my last car that was 5 years old.
First thing you should do is clay the car to remove all the crap from transport and sitting until you got it.
Next, if the finish is swirl free and looks relatively good, I would apply 2 coats of Meguiars NXT tech wax. That shouldn't take very long and should make it shine very nicely. You'll just have to apply the NXT about once a month to keep it looking nice.
Good luck!
