Every time it rains I get water spots

After every rainstorm my car is water spotting. I’m a Zaino user, and clean the car frequently, but I can’t clean it after every storm. I could use a detail spray, but that really opens you up to scratches. Any suggestions on how to prevent the problem? If not, any ideas on how to get rid of the spots.

Are you using the zaino gloss enhancer? That typically works for me on nominal waterspots, unless the waterspots have been baked in the hot sun.

I was planning on using that to remove the stains, but I wanted to see if anyone had a better idea. The spots look like they are happening because the wax holds the water in large beads on the hood and roof. They seem to be concentrated around the rotary accent on the hood. Not even driving at highway speeds seems to move the water beads so they sit on my hood until the water evaporates. It’s not particularly hot in NJ right now so the sun is not baking the residue in, but this weekend when I was cleaning my car I did notice some baked in stains. After seeing the stains I became particularly concerned, and that is what spurred me to ask for some advice.

Ultimately the solution is either drying the car after storms, or using a detailing spray to lift them away. However, both solutions take time, and with sundown happening around 5:00 I don’t have time to take it off until the weekend; a proposition that concerns me because this is how the more permanent stains occur.

Do you live down south (US)? Years ago when I lived in Florida my IROC spotted like crazy after the afternoon showers when the baking sun came back out. The sun down there is brutal on everything.

You might try spraying the car with the Mr. Clean final rinse spray of filtered water just after the rain to see if that eliminates spots.

Mate, sun baking in Singapore is about as extreme as it gets (notwithstanding certain places in the Middle East) and I've no problem with water spots. I'm also a Zaino user and after each Z7 wash I finish with the Z6 gloss enhancer. Although you're a Zaino user too, certain questions come to mind. How long has it been since your last polish treatment? Did you follow Zaino to the letter?....wash, clay, Z1, three coats of Z2 (or ZFX/Z2 without Z1) with Z6 between each coat and to finish. With my Zaino treatment and driving in the rain the water simply dances around the hood and always slides right off after I park

My car beads, but the water just sits on the hood. If you get moving at highway speeds it will fall off, but anything slower will not do it. I think something is up with my application of Zaino, so if I get a chance this weeked I will strip it, and start all over again. It's been raining nostop here in New Jersey, and today it finally stopped. I awoke to find the car covered with spots. I used the Z6 to take off the new spots, but there are still several that will not come out. Looks like a long weekend of claybar and wax for me.

Quick question can Zaino be stripped using dish soap? If not can you offer any suggestions.

Yes, people here use Dawn dishwashing soap. Haven't had to use it myself, but I've read that it's great at prepping the surface for claybar. Do this and another full clay and then use the ZFX/Z2 mix with Z6 in between, works wonders. C'mon back after, tell us the results. Best of luck Pk, hope it works out for you.
