i needa get me one of those. i use 3 microfiber towels when drying the car.
one to soak up most of the water, one to pat the extra droplets, one to wipe. 2 more towels for the wheels...
you should always wash the towels. who knows what may accidentally get in there while your not using it. even when you're using it, your car isn't exactly spotless.

yea, if all the loose contaminants aren't completely off the car, it could catch at the edge of the squeegee and scratch. with a towel it's easier because the contaminants end up in the towel's weave and not be right up front ready to scrape your paint.
i have to admit though, it'd be lot faster to clean with the squeegee.

First blow the water off with an air blower. Gets the water out of all the places like the front grill, side vents, and around the mirrors. Then use the towels to get whats left. I use 2 large micro fiber ones from Walmart. Love those towels. Great for dry dusting the inside too. I wash towels only with them selves and air dry after each use.

so what kinda drying towels do you guys use??? whats better chamios or microfiber or leather chamios??? i notice that "the Absorber" dries up after a couple of uses and isnt the same as when bought new....any suggestions??
I machine wash my [man-made material] chamois cloth every once in awhile. I take it out after the full spin cycle and put it back in its plastic tube damp. Works great.
I also machine wash and air dry my microfiber towels often. They were high quality to start with and have therefore held up very nicely.

microfiber towels from autopia auto care or fiber-works are the ONLY things that touch my car's paint.
I like the large waffle weave towels for drying.
I'm not a big chamois fan

4 huge bath towels, 100% cotton, that's made in USA. Throw in the machine with extra rinse after each wipe down. Megs car wash soap, no softener.
Microfiber and Megs quick detailer to finish her off.
