Don't use glass cleaner

It says in the owners manual not to use glass cleaner on the back window because of the defrost and antenna wires attached. So what is the best way to clean it then??

Oops. Guess I'll be finding something else for the back window then- the Windex hasn't seemed to hurt it yet, though, so I'm guessing I didn't do any damage...

Just use a slightly damp cloth. Thats what we did when I worked at a car wash. Ammonia from the glass cleaner definately damages tint and I guess wires too?

Whew. Lucky I only used it on the grungy exhaust pipes. (Not that it did the job -- moving on to H2SO4.)

The guy that did my tint said to use clear rubbing alcohol to clean the windows. Said to put a small amount on a MF towel and then buff with another MF.

I've tried it once, with excellent results... No streaks, although the smell is lousy for a bit.

I got my windows tinted Huper Optik 30% and I use a silicon window cleaner made for tinted windows. I bought it from the Tint place that did my windows. Plus i used a microfiber towel to clean my inside windows.

If you mean outside, most anything is OK. It's talking about inside to be careful because of the deposited wires. I use 'Invisible Glass cleaner'.

I use dish soap and warm water, put it on a towel and clean the window, and then dry with newspaper, no streaks very clean.

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be safe.

Perhaps the most important thing beyond what you use to clean it is HOW you clean it!

ALWAYS wipe in the direction of the wires, never across the wires. You can chip or break the etch by wiping across rather than along it's length.

How about the outside of the rear window? My rear window dries up some nasty waterspots everytime. What do you folks do to combat this?

Wipe dry with a microfibre towel. I have to do this (or drive 90mph+) to get the drops off the entire car otherwise nasty white residue from our water esp on windows where it is easily seen.

Once dry it is much harder to remove.

I use Zaino 2 and finish with a squirt of the Zaino 6 and work it to a good shine. (on the OUTSIDE, of course) Water beads up like crazy and I've had no problems with water spots. For the inside of the car I use some pre-moistened "towlette" things that Windex makes. Soft cloth, merely moist, not soaking wet and they clean well and dry fast with no lint (well, almost no lint).
