The worst thing someone can do is take their car thru an automated car wash like those you see at a gas station.. Brushless... yeah right... that is for lazy people.

the other important thing is knowing how to wash your car. if you don't know how to wash it properly, you'll just create the swirls again. this video saved my life.

Agree on the PC or meguiars polisher. Go to the meguiars website and follow the 5 step process.
Some of their paint conditioner will posilsh most of those swirls out.
If you own a black car and want to clean it yourself, you'll need a buffer/polisher unless you want to spend 8+ hours on your paint all the time.

all I know is...you guys should be happy you don't have what I have. I have what seems like acid rain damage... I literally have small craters on my paint in random spot that the toughest polish just does nothing. So I need to pay someone to wet sand at some point.. :/

^^^ I have about 12 of those little dots on my hood, I know what you mean. I think it may have been windshield fluid or somethin.
All youre going to get with wetsanding is going through your clear and having to repaint.
I worked on a few of my spots today, dabbing on touch up paint with a toothpick and doint my best to level it before it dried. I then let it dry and worked it over with some scratch x. They arent 100%, but they are a lot better.

Detail
First things first you bought a black car I detail a lot of cars and paint them as well and black is one of the hardest to keep clean and swirl free. If you get hard water stains on your car don't skip right to clay bars because when you use clay it will take off all your wax and any other coat that is on your car and if you are not using the finest grade possible the clay will leave worse marks than the water spots. There are two products i would suggest you buy the first is "Farecla" BLACK TOP it is a hand glaze that you put on the panel and wipe off with a good micro fibre clothe. The second if you are will to purchase a buffer is "3M PERFECT-IT" ultrafine machine polish part # 06068 and the (Blue) polish pad I use it on any dark color that is giving me trouble and it works great. I also use a variable speed DeWalt DW849 to polish I have had mine for four years and use it every day for two or three hours.
