Exclamation Beware Cicadias

I probably spelled the bugs name wrong...anyway.

The 17 year cicadias are out on the east coast now and I wanted to put out a warning. 17 years ago I arrived on the east coast with my first brand new car (a cool :D Ford EXP) and had the darn bugs plastered all over it. I didn't give it any thought and left them for a week or so. When I got to washing them off, I discovered that the bug juices had eaten the clearcoat clean off. They didn't mess up the paint, just the clearcoat.

Keep the bugs off and keep the wax on.

Has it been that long? All I remember is the the incredible noise they made out in the woods. If I had to spend 17 years underground I'd probably be making a lot of noise too.

it's funny - all the cicada hype, and I have yet to hear or even see ONE of them.

I ran into a flock of them. I didn't have time to brake, pretty scary considering that i couldn't see the other side of the road infront of this "sea of black"

I ended up with around 200 dead critters on my car. Was not fun washing them off.
