Good on you Jedi....my 04 tires were just replaced yesterday and I realise I should have had them replaced earlier. The rubber was just crap.....

ugh, you were still on the OEM bridgestones???

OEM bridgestones lasted 19,000. (should have replaced at about 17.5)
245/40 Kumho MX's (220 tread rating) lasted 20,000. (even running some serious negative camber)
245/40 Toyo T1r's (280 tread rating) just got installed last week.

Yep...and I 'only' got 40K (25K in miles) out of them. They were starting to scallop and were as noisy as ****. The Maxxis are deadly quiet and for the money I paid ($199 AUS = $174 US) I'm happy....

on my old car the logest tires have been on was like 3 years and maybe 20k miles and i used various forms of tire shines...the sides held up much better than the tread...the sides still looked great besides the typical tire wear...i doubt tire shines are going to affect any of us here unless you plan on keeping your tires for 4+ years...

Whew, that scared me for a bit. I am a compulsive user of Armor all tire shine since it makes the last part of my car bright black (BB car).

..and it depends on the manufacturer...anything which is cheap and nasty is likely to have some pretty destructive properties in it.

zaino tire shine works pretty good and smells like bananas. if ur tires aren't shining after using it, at least u'll be feeling pretty good from the high from inhaling the fumes.

^^^ Black Magic. Comes in a big bottle, think the label is still red / black.
Pick up some Eagle One tire shine pads, makes putting the shine on MUCH easier. (and you take off the excess so you don't end up with shine on your paint)
