First-time poster, long-time lurker as a guest. Haven't found any ideas in searches. Wondering about the easiest/best way to clean the front plastic grille? Likewise the embossed "grille" on the back, flanking the rear rotary accent. Box of Q-tips, couple of hours, and a six-pack is the best I can come up with.

A pure wools wash mitt.

 

I found a soft, long-bristle brush and it worked fairly well but was a fair amount of work to be thorough. After the rinse, I towel-dried but the grille still had a lot of water in the holes, so I tried my air compressor and blower. It worked great! Completely dried all the little compartments. Just some splash to wipe-off the surrounding area with the chamois or lint-free towel.

I'll look for the wash mitt this weekend. The brush was kind of a pain.

If possible, after you wash and dry use some form of forced air to blow out the water in all crevices. I have a reversable shop vac with a coned nozzle that does the trick. Works great, especially in getting all the water out of the front grill. You would not believe how much water gets trapped in there.

 

I usally use an very small sponge with some car wash and wash my plastic grill. Just keep an regular routine on keeping your grille keep and you shouldn't have any items with it getting really hard to clean. My .02 cents

 

wash mit and compressed air is your friend.
If you don't have a large compressor, even the bottled compressed air (used to clean keyboards, etc) will do just fine.

I agree with Jedi. Washing is no big deal, but compressed air is the way to get all the water out of the nooks and crannies. I have a 5-hp compressor in my garage.

 

^That's what I said in post #4. I do after all my washes. Every crevice from top to bottom including moonroof, side mirrors, panel crevices, wheels, etc.

Also note that many black trim shine products have a sticky property and thus makes dust particles adhere to the plastic more frequently.
