When I talked/road down with Acosta to rotorfest the red rx8 did seam faster then mine at that point it was ported and polish, marcos said he was making 210 at the wheels.

And yes the 3rotor was nice to follow down as well minus the flames cinging my paint.

thats why its possible that car is too unreliable, or there'd be tons of videos and track slips already , until theres hard evidence in the form of timeslip or video, his car is nothing more than a novelty item, and apparently the degree of novelty is debatable since the demand for buying it is obviously not very high...
I bet they would have a lot easier time selling that thing if they have time slip and videos though , since they dont... its hard to get excited over it.
I applaude them for doing something unique though

so what kinda car would you guys buy with that money they put into that car? Id be pushing a spanking Ferrari 360 :p, sure I wont stand a chance vs that viper on the drag strip, but ill definetly have some videos and 1/4 mile slips :D

just incase they do end up racing, I want the rx8 to win. (Not a big viper fan)

 

I've been following Marcos' cars for years (I don't think I ever saw that MX-3 make it to the end of the 1/4 without breaking) and I got a good look at the RX-8/Cosmo hybrid at SEMA.

Lotsa paper tigers over there in New Jersey.

 

I informed my brother (who owns/races the car in my avatar up in Seattle) back in January about this car. Here was his reply...

Ok Ok Ok... The car is nice, and I have to give credit to anyone who is going to build an engine or conversion car. Although, everyone is right, you don't have any time slips nor do you wish to race it because of sponsorship reasons? I'm sponsored with my RX8 and I race the car whenever I like. If I wreck the car that's my problem not the sponsorships problem. I think your just avoiding the race. I'm not saying the Viper will win, the Viper has a good chance of not hooking up, especially if it's running on blacktop with all of the oil on the surface, and all of the torque down low, the car isn't gonna hook, you need to race on cement. (Before you flame me for that, my friend is a Viper mechanic, and he thinks he knows who's car it is, he may have worked on it). But, your not even giving it a chance, at least take the thing to the track and run the 1/4 mile, who cares if you break the rear, your Dad owns the shop, you have the capital to back you up anyway, (at least it seams that way). I'm just assumming I could be wrong, but with a race shop and the funds to build a 3 rotor engine from a 35k car, I would think you have the "backing" to replace the rear if it went.

Basic point: Stop bragging about the 900hp car unless you have some type of evidence to prove it's power in the 1/4 mile or even a 0-60... damn, anything!
HP is only part of the equation in a 1/4 mile race, you should know this being in the industry for so long, and owning a race shop, well your families anyway.

I still think a Viper would win. I haven't seen any real evidence of the RX-8 going to win against it on the 1/4 mile.
