Track time wanted

So after a few run ins with the law I've decided I need to get my car on a track. It's an 06 rx8 MTX sport. I'm not looking to be competitive out really trace for that matter, just want some fun on a track. What's my best bet at this?

You need to google search in your local area for tracks. It's that's simple. Some tracks offer street nights. Others have membership fees and/or annual dues usually not cheap. Some offer specials where you can go a few sessions for a few hundred dollars. Find out what's available and what you can afford. Either way beats the points on your license and possibly hurting yourself or someone else on the street.

What Ken said.. Tell us where, there is a good one coming up in Savannah GA, but that is of no use if you live in Oregon.

I suggest looking for a Drivers Ed event. There are several. The Porsche Club of America holds them all over the country. The benefit there is that you get an instructor in the car to help, as opposed to having to figure it out for yourself.

I'm in bham, Al. Would prefer something local. Like barber or Talladega, but 1500-2k$ is a little out of my range to spend a day on the track,

^ that's to take a big name driving school. There are many programs/clubs you'll be able to drive with. Up in the NW track day fees run $200-$350 depending on which club/which track.

Good luck finding a club, there will be plenty of people in your area to help out.

hey I'm in Anniston/oxford area. I am actually doing a track day April 29th at Atlanta Motorsports Park. I would be happy to extend an invitation to you. you'll get 3+ hours of track time for only 225$ that day. We do TGPR often. You missed our last TGPR event a couple months ago.
Just Track It, LLC is the company doing AMP on the 29th. Road Atlanta is coming up June. I'm trying to talk Nabil from Just Track It, LLC into doing another TGPR event in May.
There is another guy who lives in B'ham that does plenty of events at Barber. He's cousins with a local friend of mine.
Anyways, If you can come out to the AMP event on the 29th. There are a few spots left and the other drivers have some sweet cars.
I almost forgot. SCCA is HUGE in Birmingham so autox'ing should be a fun start too

@ jmar... Problem is those are expensive tracks.

Check with the GA RX8 Club. They may know some closer. Invitation is open for May 4 and 5 in Savannah. I think the fee is $250 for the weekend, with either 7 or 8 sessions and an instructor if you are green or blue (which is likely if you have not been on track before). I drive 4 hours from Orlando for this one. Nice track, no outside walls. Plenty of runoff. I heard you have to pay for the sod if you run off at Barber.

It was nice to have the room I needed in this video.

NASA's Southeast region would be an organization I'd look at if I were you, as well as Mid-South region too. You're kinda between the two, so you might find yourself travelling a little bit but it's worth it When you're on track all weekend going a couple hours on a Friday evening after work and a couple hours back home Sunday afternoon is no big deal. I travel up to 6hrs for a weekend event without taking any time off work for example. YMMV.

Seat-Time.com is another great one, but you'll be travelling all the way out to Roebling Road / Savannah GA to run with them as they only do that track. Fantastic $/hr, can't touch 'em hardly.

Barber hasn't charged from sod since the 2nd track management group took over circa 2005-6ish timeframe. I've been offroading there and not charged a dime. They're still proud of their armco and other similar items though, so don't touch the walls. Even still though, it's not as bad as COTA in Austin.
