Did they give you a weight?
judt stumbled across these Enkei PF01 18x10.5 +47, a bit heavy at 21.15 lbs, this offset wasn’t listed on their website

I didn't ask weight. I'll call before they ship and get that. I was assuming they would be under 20 lbs based off of other similar wheels they have weight listed for. I be less than thrilled if they came in at 22lbs. I could be deluding myself but I decided to pony up for Titan 7 forged wheels for the safety factor.
I've come across those pf01's for as low as 399 I think.
Id go with the pf01 or apex 18x11 as my next choice.
It's a little annoying that I can't pick up an 18x10 mid $200 konig with a good offset. I'd care much less about weight and durability at that price point.

I got the tires this weekend.
100tw feels rock hard compared to the slicks I'm used to.
285/18 looks like a monster truck tire next to my rx7.
Yah I know I said 265-275 above. They had the 285, it was 150 shipped so I went with it. It's the biggest size I'm ever like to run.
Also I probably won't have any updates for a while.
I may build a splitter on the test mule if I feel motivated.
i also need to see if my 1/2 *** roll cage is doable/legal and not stupid.
Feel free to tell me this is stupid
I want the rear to be a normal roll bar with an x between the rear legs. I want some side impact protection so I want door bars that terminate into a short front hoop. Short as in where you would usually have the bar running though the dash from left to right. I don't want the overhead Halo.
I'm sure you've seen something like this in many convertible race cars. Typically ones with no windshield.

Shock question
outside of the adjuster location on the penske 7500da and assuming adequate travel is available is the Penske 8300 with remote reservoirs worth the extra expense over the 7500da?
While cost isnt an issue its still a consideration as id rather spend the difference on aero if the performance difference is negligible.

you mentioned MCS on post #2, is that no longer the shock you’re going with? Or do you have those and have moved on? Sorry not a helpful question I’m sure... I’m just curious.

NC Knuckles...... how about some adjustable control arms?
i have a complete other 04 rx8 with parts I'll never use. Diff/trans anyone?
I traded a pain in the *** car for a pain in the *** car. Not finding a plethora of cool off the shelf parts. I'd hoped not to have to make my trick parts anymore. Silly me, this isn't a BMW or the family car.
Where are you guys getting solid bushings for your lca?
There don't seem to be any exceptionally nice replacement upper/lower control arms that are hiem jointed/adjustable to do camber changes. This offset bushing stuff is new to me, seems like a pain in the *** in my mind so far.
Mazdacomp has uca derlin offsets(maybe in stock)
while I'm saying/asking dumb things
rear links:
Megan Though they look ok. Low maintenance ball joints for the win?
Spl seems overpriced
what are you all running in the rear?
Back to that making parts statement I started with. Maybe.
P.S.
I may have said this earlier, Im Picking up car Sunday and Driving to Atlanta Motorsports Park Monday. If anyone in the area wants to check it out the swap I'll be there as close to 10am as I can manage. Mostly going to swing by discovery parts on my way home so I won't be lingering for an excessive amount of time with any luck.

Mike - i'm following your lead here buddy so make some good decisions
The caged LFX car is getting it's fuel cell in prep for a race at Barber next month. The street LFX swap is in Denver for 2 more weeks before getting complete. Coming from the BMW world it's for sure been tough to find parts that aren't junk, i don't know what vendor to use either. Bought wheels so far and that's it.

I think I'm going to wait for the Penskes, get ride height set and align it at home and see what I need to hit the settings I want. i have some ideas on what I probably need but I'm going to wait and start taking things apart before I make any purchases. I'll share what I come up with.
Oh, fuel cells are a pain in the ***. Unless I HAVE to have one I won't ever do that again. In my rx7 I did it for weight/location. Id choose to carry a little extra weight a few inches in a worse direction over a fuel cell if I could do it over.

Yeah i'm doing the same , just waiting for the Penskes then run a day at the club track to get a feel for the car.
We're only doing a cell for safety and to gain an extra 15% fuel that's legal per WRL rules. I'm not super pumped at how there are no easy button options for the RX fuel tank. I hate having to run a half tank or more all the time.

All the Speedsource parts have mostly been discontinued by Mazda Motorsports as the inventory runs out. However, a number of Japanese companies are reproducing them. You have to use either compliant polymer bushings is spherical bearings on the front LCAs because with the alignment adjustments they need to be multi-motion in all three planes of direction.
However, the OE RX8 bushings are very unique and limit compliance compared to other polymer bushings. I only recommend replacing them with spherical bearings for this reason. So unless you happen to find a set of the Speedsource spherical carriers and bearings, then you’ll either have to order them from Japan or have them fabricated.

As my son likes to say "fun fact!". My only experience with the rx8 was I drove one around the block at a sketchy used car dealer. It was in terrible condition. Ive never even been a passenger in one!
I aquiered myself an rx8 this weekend and after driving 2 hours though a very twisty though a national forest, a stop at AMP and 5 and 1/2 hours of very unexciting interstate I have to say the rx8 is a fantastic car. I should have done this sooner.
I plan on writing something a little more verbose later.

Nothing exciting going on other than a pandemic, major financial market correction and fighting for my right to buy and wipe my *** with toilet paper.
I have a Nola Motorsports event coming on on the 4th and 5th, hopefully it doesn't get cancelecanceled. The rx8 is a grossly under appreciated car. I love this car!

Teamrx8 - was looking for posts about trailing an rx8. Didn't find anything earth shatteringly new to me but I do enjoy finding your posts.
If anyone follows this thread besides me and needs a trailer;
Phils Trailers in Waco
Got my halmark/featherlite trailer from them. Awesome deal and great customer service.
and welcome aboard n00b, I suppose you will be bumping all kinds of silly stuff for the next several months

haha, well I was trying hard not to post, but you called the ogre out of his cave. Well I’ll just throw out that a hard day living in America is still better than anywhere else. At least it still is at this point in time. I don’t think you were saying that, but I’m sure you can agree that a lot of people in this country griping and complaining have no idea how good they have it here even on the worse day of their life. Take hope though, there’s always this:
I can tell you how I strap mine down, that’s about it really.

I'm with you, life's good!
rx8 is 1000 times more pleasant than my rx7, it's not as hot in the cockpit, the exhaust fumes don't burn my eyes or the back of my throat and I assume t hooks will work and I won't have to get burned by a hot trailer deck at the end of the day anymore. =)
what region are you in if you don't mind me asking?

I don’t use t-hooks because it’s too difficult with an enclosed trailer, but if you have an open trailer I seem to recall that it’s no problem.
I use 12” long D-ring straps with ratchet straps; two around the bottom center of the rear subframe with the ratchet straps straight back to each corner respectively, and then two straps in the front around the front LCA subframe mounting tabs (not the LCA), but with the ratchet straps crossed over to opposite corners.
I suppose we’re not too far from each other. I’m in the Dallas metroplex area.

Team -- I'm in Dallas as well and building a TT LFX swap car. Car is almost done but trying to learn suspension setup and what all i should replace from stock. I have coilovers coming and have a huge list of stuff before it's track ready. I'd love to pick your brain sometime in person and take a peek at this car. It's a riot.
