Swoope,

My experience with Bridgestones is that you will have much better consistency if you heat-cycle them at least once before you use them in anger.

(I've also only used them shaved, so I can't comment on full tread).

the heat cycle thing if a great hint.

Any negatives about the Star Specs? I'm contemplating replacing my dwindling B-stone RE050A's with them.

FYI,

For those looking for a good deal on 17" r comps, tiredeals4less.com has 255/40-17 Toyo R888s on sale for $172.75 each. I ordered a set from them a couple of weeks ago.

i think i am going to use them up.. they are very good on track. dont get greasy..

if that helps.. i dont have tread depth info.. but i think i have about 10k miles on them.. and 3 track days.. and the last one was a long one. with a double stint.

they do very well..

Swoope I just used my RE01R's at the track this weekend. They were awesome in the rain, never really had any scary moments. Sadly didn't really get to see much of their dry capability as only my last 2 sessions were anywhere close to dry. I may use them for a session or two at Roebling in May to see the difference compared to the Nittos.

Good to know. I should be doing 2-3 DE's a year plus about 5 autocrosses. They'll be my daily drivers as well. I'll be getting about 22k out of my Bridgestones, so I'm hoping to get 15-20k if I go with Star Specs. If you get a tread measurement at 10k with your use, I'd love to hear where you're at.
Thanks!
