Thanks Mark! Got the rear settled by going softer all around and needed every bit of it.
It was both a fun and challenging weekend. The challenging part made possible by Mike Kuhn's great driving both days. Day 1, feeling like I had put together pretty good runs, I was still behind. Thanks to SoloStorm and staying focused I was able to execute a pretty solid run dropping about .8. Going in day 2 it felt I needed all it with Mike eclipsing my times each run and continuing to go faster. 3rd run with no other way to soften the car I dropped the pressure out of the tires. With the car feeling better I drove a tighter and more conservative line. A last minute decision to try a downshift into 1st cost me a few tenths but there wasn't much left out there. For those who haven't been to Dover, the surface on one side of the lot is very bumpy and gravels up pretty bad. Running 4th heat, or probably any other, there was no line other than the one everyone else was driving. I think we both did the best we could, Mike better than I.
After a back to back weekends with great competition, can't wait until Toledo.

I always liked the old ST* rule set with the wings/body work. Looks nice Mike. I'm sure a flame is on the way for liking that pic.
On current STX issues Dave and I have a report to make on quieting down the car. After being yelled at for our new found volume possibly associated with the header, we installed a Dynatech Vortex Cone on a whim. They are relatively cheap and simple to install/remove. It made a huge difference in street driving noise and on track dB.
Dave has some pics he might share. We didn't notice any butt dyno or data driven loss in power, but the sound loss was huge. We registered 82-83db at 75', which is probably 4-5dB less than the first 2 events.

Cone of Silence
Here's a pic of the cone. It's welded into a short tube which is clamped between two Coast Fab mufflers. It can be removed and replaced with a straight tube for places with less restrictive sound requirements. I'm sure it's probably costing us a couple hp, but my butt dyno is not that sensitive 
Anyway, it seems to be pretty effective for a 1 lb muffler.

I tried one of those back in 2005 on my Stock Class RX8 with a cat-back open pipe and it killed my top end power

Run count is accurate. Have 2 sets, one being 225's. Sticking with them for now.

gentlemen, tried searching this thread specifically for some advice, but any of you guys have experience with the RE050A's? Very stiff tire, couldn't make use of the full patch even at 27psi. I know that means I am not going fast enough, but lately I have been reading guys having good success with these tires upwards of 40psi.
i need to get a digital thermo for my tires, but wasn't sure if the more experienced folks here had some suggestions.

The RE050 is not one of the usual suspects in the ST tire battles, so having specific data points on PSI will be hard to come by. There are also lots of things that can effect the "correct" pressure, from suspension setup, alignment (camber), weight of car, wheel width to tire width etc...
I'd say find a place where you feel the tires are happy and then increase/decrease by 2-3psi and see what happens. If your driving an STX prepped RX8, you will probably run less pressure than a STi or Evo running the same tire. Our car runs very low pressures, but we are also light, have a proper alignment and camber setup for our tires and a proper wheel width for the tires we are running.

lol well i mean good relative to lower pressures. But I just did a random google search for them and saw some porches and whatnot that come equipped with them.
Mind you I am DSP so completely different than what you guys are doing, but interestingly enough, these tires worked wonders this past weekend. I am not sure if it was moreso just a build up of confidence through experience (only starting my second season here <- newb), but i worked my way up to 39f/37r and the feedback was a hell of a lot better than running closer to 30.
