It wasn't straight down and back like the previous events. We used a different area that allowed the courses to turn out and loop back around more like a traditional solo event on a large site. Runs were in the mid 40s, which is long for a dual-course Pro event. I enjoyed this year's courses more than last years
Sadly, the El Toro site will soon become a victim of yet another housing development project ...
and hopefully Jason will have something to see later in the year

I think James, who is quite a good driver, showed that the Team set up is going in a positive direction...now if only the car owner could capitalize, as well
I'm bummed we missed the Pro. I think we could have done well in Prepared, but maybe not well enough to overcome the Lotus' launch advantage...I haven't seen 60', but I'll bet the turbo Elise on big slicks must have been well below 2 seconds...maybe 1.8 or so, on that surface?

1.8 60' isn't very fast for a mid-engine car.

no, there is a lot of grip off the line, at least on Hoohoos
however, I wouldn't put much faith on the accuracy of the 60 ft light positioning, I'm fairly confident that it varies significantly from event to event. I was getting great launches/lights and only running 2.2 times at El Toro, but have seen 2.0s at other events. That said, I do plan to get an engine compression check very soon
We're still sorting the car for sure, made some reasonable changes that were possible at the event with more tuning to come. I'm pursuing a different configuration with Nationals in mind, that's the end goal. James' feedback confirmed my own feelings from SD and DKNV also having good improvements on the V710s shows that we've still got some work to do to get the car to take full advantage of whatever size/brand tires we're using.
I'm very impressed with Jason's times and driving skill. He's in a very enviable position of of being confident in his car and himself.

Mark, try to stop tweaking on the car when it's working, this time
I also agree, Jason's in a great spot...great skills, lots of seat time in the same old friend/RX8 and resultant confidence and consistency...it's going to be a hard combo to beat, at least on two consecutive days

Our first race with the new Miata. It is good to see how far off the pace we are, but overall, we were content with the performance given the cars current prep....just waiting to hear that Phillip has purchased his new suspension and is ready to let us at the Konis (hint/hint).
The Miata is definately more challenging to drive. On the rev limiter at four spots on each course, having to shift into 3rd on that first long slalom along the back.
