SCCA El Paso NT - Where is everybody?

I'm a little disappointed with the turnout for the El Paso National Tour
event next weekend (Feb 26-27), particularly for B Stock. I know there
are several RX-8 owners in the area, I guess none of them are in to
autocrossing.

I was hoping to drive against somebody not from Central/East Texas
but unless there are entries not posted yet, BS will consist of a few
drivers from 600+ miles east of El Paso.

If anybody reading this is going, could you speak up? At this point unless
more people enter, I'm thinking about dropping out.

Hrm, is this an early sign that BS may be a dud class this coming year?

Ah, El Paso located conveniently halfway between SD/LA, Hou/DFW and Denver. All ~700-800 miles away.

I wouldn't draw conclusions about class participation based on El Paso. BS has 3 times the entries of STX. Last year there were 14 BS cars with times in San Diego, 12 of them in S2Ks. So far there are 8 BS entries in SD...with no S2Ks.

No. There are things hitting the market within the next few months that'll help the 8 be competitive. I know it's going to wake up a few. That, and it's quite early in the year for many of us to make the trek... heck, many of us have snow int he yard with mre expected.

That and El Paso is a gajillion miles away from both coasts.

Where are the 350Zs? Porsches? Toyota MR2s?

Wasn't talking about the RX-8 being a dud, but BS being a dud. Like you said, where are the 350Zs, 968s, MR2s, etc...

Does anyone have last year's results? How many BS entries were there? Or is attendance at El Paso historically low.

Last years BS numbers don't really matter. For sake of arguement just consider last years numbers as 'Yes' and 'S2000'.

The other problem is the time of year.... SCCA tried to start early last year with PHX and it was a looser also. Some people in ID, UT, CO cant even get out of their driveways due to weather this time of year. Then try to convince the west coast guys to pack up and drive to TX for a first time tour when there is one here a week later. Three events back to back in the same region of the country is to much. Hotels, fuel, food, crazy $73.00 entry fees three weekends in a row is
a bit ruff.
