San Diego Tour and Pro

[noob]
Anyone have any idea on what the arrangement is going to be this year between the Tour and Pro for storing rigs/trailers/cars?

I'm planning on towing down for the Tour and leaving my stuff through the next week. Another question is what time is realistic to fly out on Sunday, after the Tour? I'm guessing the Tour and awards are over by 5PM, but by the time I get my stuff to the storage site and to the airport, maybe I need an 8PM flight or so?
[\noob]

Who else plans on going, btw?

I think Ken Motnishi is setting up something at El Toro, so you would want to fly out of John Wayne (SNA).

Aw c'mon, you shouldn't be so hard on mp5

I didn't know El Toro was so close to John Wayne. So, figure about 1.5 hours to get from San Diego to El Toro, maybe 2 hours...then, get the motorhome/trailer locked up at the storage area, then get to the airport on Sunday...latest flight is 9:20 PM or so...wonder if I'll make it? I've got free flights on Southwest, so I might as well book it now, Sunday flights can be tough!

it's only 80 miles from the SD event site to either John Wayne or El Toro, Sunday evening traffic shouldn't be too bad, and airport parking tends to be quite secure these days if you'd rather just go direct

San Diego was a pretty okay site. We had a good time last year. I won't be making it out there this year, wish I could.

On a Sunday night that drive can take 2 hours. That is why we always run the AM run group for local events.

RV/trailer/car storage between San Diego Tour-El Toro Prosolo:

There will be storage available at El Toro for the week between the Tour and the Pro. However, there will be no staying overnight allowed (that goes for the event as well). Gates open at 6AM and close at 10PM.

Total cost for the week (or any part of the week before Friday) will be $25.

For any further questions, email or call me.

Ken

Also, Travel Land says they don't have any room, because their sales lots are full, for any campers besides customers...

I'm looking for another option. Too bad, they are basically across the street from El Toro.

we were able to get non-stop service from SD for less than 1-stop from John Wayne and the right times too, made it a no-brainer

Yep, John Wayne is a tougher airport to schedule than SD...flying to Oakland, it's easy to get in and out of Wayne on Southwest, but anywhere else can be a challenge.

So, it might be clear, now, why I sold the Kumhos. I didn't want to say anything until we finalized plans.

Having the opportunity to share the car with Matthew should be a good learning experience and I'm definitely at a point (now that I have two full years of autocross under my belt) where I feel the need to improve! Besides, he's a good guy and is providing our tires...fair trade off!

Of course, we may struggle, big time, getting the car to go quickly on the Hoosiers and it may be a mistake to try. The first set will be here today or tomorrow and I'll start running them on the 28th at a local event.

If anyone who has put some time into the Hoosiers and feels they have a handle on where to start, in terms of setup, I'd be curious to hear their thoughts.

Nice... I thought BS was supposed to be the softer class (according to ULLLOSE). That makes 3 natl champs that will run the SD tour plus a number of other top national guys. I might have to run and hide in SS just to have a shot.

Holy moly, I guess I made the right move from Philly to San Francisco SCCA. It's gonna be a long year in BS for me here in Bay Area. Is Matthew THE Matthew B. in SS?

Any top drivers looking for a co-drive for tours/National Championship, please contact me =)

I was going to try to out codriver you... After a conversation between Jennifer and Randy Pobst about a codrive at natls I thought we could start small with the SD tour.... However WC and ALMS will have him in Florida that weekend. Guess I will just have to take you all on alone again.

What are you saying? That Pobst was going to return to his roots and co-drive your car?

At the Laguna ALMS race Jennifer offered to let him codrive with me at natls this year. He said that would be fun but we never actually never made a deal or anything, they just casually talked about it. I thought we could start small so I was going to see if he wanted to run at SD, but WC and ALMS is double in Sebring that weekend.

At this point there is a small chance we may miss something in March. Jennifer's company has their year end awards deal/party in Florida in March, I was there last year the week before the tour/pro started out here and missed the Sebring race because I spent the week sick in a Florida hotel room. We have not seen the dates yet for this years Florida trip.... I hate to miss the tour/pro but hard to pass up a free vacation, especially if it means I can hit Sebring.

Nah, this is Matthew Braun, some hack from Michigan...and, you won't have to worry about him beating you up in SFR, he's only doing Tours/Pros in my car...

Hahahah, hack? I want to be a hack like Matthew then with 3 champ jackets

SFR/Tours/Pros are all the same to me, put-up/shut-up in 3 runs (sometimes 4)

Seriously thinking about MaxQdata for driver improvement, since my a!@ is on the line. Too bad you sold the tires so quickly, since I can use Kumho too. For a hack like me, better shot with Kumho's contingency at 3rd place, vs zippo with Hoosier.

Yep, he's a very talented driver and I think sharing the car with him will be a good experience. I hope we can figure out how to make the Hoosier 285 work.

I also would like to start doing some consistent data logging, but am not sure about the MaxQdata system. I have a friend with a full on DL1 that he says he'll let me use...he says the MaxQ is pretty basic? Of course, I tend to do better with basic stuff...the advanced stuff just gives me a headache...

I found a Little Debbie's cardboard cutout of myself that we can use for the WC and ALMS race, so I'm in for the SD tour.
