RX8 2-3-4 Flat shift VS conventional shift at Race track with Versatune

Is very hot here at Taiwan, so no point to do any hardcore time attack. but the recoarding brake time always with lots prep in at hot season

every since install of ATS carbon clutch, i been alway want to active the Flat shift function on versatune, i think with solid carbon disc charector
will great to improve flat shift ability, i also already previus install solid engine diff mount, and subframe bushing i think this will help too

To my expection, My rx8 react pretty well with flat shift, and as you guys in video. compare to conventional shift , flat shift gain around 1-1.5 car length and about 1-2 km faster if you are in race 1000th tenth time, this for sure will gain some advantage, but use at your own risk i guess

I broke a trans doing that (@ 4500 ft elevation too), not recommended unless you have a pcm with flat shift program that can reduce the shock loading

Yeah that definitely give a lot of stress to Transmission, let's why I say the carbon clutch
Help in this situation, it absorbs the load much better conventional clutch ~

Off topic I know.
I don't like most of the aftermarket bumpers, but I like your front bumper. Looks good.

My Camaro SS 1LE has the no-lift shift(or flat shift) feature stock. Basically, when you reach a certain RPM and keep the gas pedal floored, the ECU will cut spark and fuel for you. In my case, it will drop the RPM to about 5000 RPM(from the 6500 RPM redline). Once I got used to it, it's a very neat feature to have.

It is a feature that is intended for our drivers who want the performance feel of quick power shifting in our manual transmissions. The feature keeps the throttle at full open for both our boosted and non-boosted applications when passing through the Engine Over-speed Protection during a shift. In Engineering terms, when triggered, there is an immediate torque control, with fuel and spark, for a given period of time. Then, a predictive control takes over using the throttle to control torque. This allows the driver to take advantage of fast torque control for a short period of time (e.g. during the shift) without heating up or damaging the catalyst over time.
I know there are some aftermarket tunes that can also do that. It's usually very useful for turbocharged cars as you don't lose boost during shifts. As Team mentioned, doing NLS without any ECU tweaking for a torque control feature is probably not great for your transmission and possibly even catalyst if you have one.

I am sure lots of other cars have it but since I own one, I just happen to be more familiar with the particular system.

In the case of the RX-8, Versatuner has something, it looks like.

https://www.versatuner.com/features/mazda-rx-8-gen1

LAUNCH CONTROL & NO LIFT SHIFTING

Perfect launches have never been easier. VersaTuner limits the launch RPMs so that the only thing you need to worry about is releasing the clutch at the right moment. With no lift shifting, you can go through gears without releasing the accelerator and loosing boost. All settings are fully adjustable!
* manual transmission only
Looking at the gear ratios of an S1 RX-8, setting the target RPM to maybe 6500~7000 (displayed) RPM should be good.
