I never asked for acceptance nor validation from anyone with this story and I am glad to have provided the opportunity and excuse for your self-righteousness. I hope all of you who cannot get over this anecdote realize the character defects you may have.

If it really becomes an issue, mention it to the chief driving instructor once you come off track. Let the organizers take care of the other driver's behavior instead of taking it into your own hands and endangering all of the people sharing the track with you.
The correct way to handle things. ^

Not too funny when he spins a 180 and you pass him but the drivers behind you hit him.

well I've certainly learned a lot from this thread.

I've definitely been guilty of using track days as phallus misrepresentation/competitions.

Now that I have an RX-8, I'm slower than everyone at the trackdays I go to. Slow and steady means I'm a moving a chicane, and once they pass me, I'm free to improve my apex attacks

so...you basically did this??

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...48819260604622

Pfft...they are supposed to get black flagged for blocking, but until the corner workers notice your inside the trunk...they do not...

I guess I was wrong too...

Ethics of this kind of behavior aside, it strikes me as imprudent for a forum vendor trying to drum up business to be bragging about running people off of the road. Not exactly the best way to impress the track crowd.
He didnt run anyone off the road...he parked in their trunk until the other driver either did the right thing...which is let him pass...or the corner workers noticed and got him black flagged...OR the driver decided to try to push away from him...and ate grass...

In a DE...they are SUPPOSED to tap the mirror to let you know they see you and then GIVE you the pass...

If the jerk-off ahead of me decides to not play by the agreed upon rules...and they take a walk into a grassy knoll...that was the choice of the DRIVER...not the person behind them who should be allowed to pass...

I know they arent track days!!!!!! but the day I was there I talked to the guy who was driving the sti if he wasnt trying his best then he would have told me. He said he was trying his best, but he could have been a bad driver. Its all about the driver more than it is the car. And even in road and track or car and driver mags the STI isnt that much fast on the track. oh and the mustange GT500 isnt a great car I dont care what people say the Z06 it is WAY better on the track than that crap. And regardless of what you say you cant argue that if you pay for a GT500 isnt all that worth it.. might as well get a vette because you do know that a stock vette not a z06 is faster than the best mustang you can buy..

Heh...man I hate to pimp my old videos...but I have not uploaded new ones in a long time...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...35336967829043

Me vs. C5 vette...running in the newb group...

Driver makes the car...not the other way around...no way is the RX better then that vette...

The straight is fun to watch the vette simply disappear...

Repeat that all you want, but behavior like what you're advocating is explicitly cited as grounds for being thrown out from all of our local track events.

Interesting that then 80% of the people do it and are not thrown out.

All DE's have the same common rules of edicate...your simply trying to nitpick to be holier than thou...

I honestly cant believe this is even a point of contention...

Yeah, why make safety a point of contention? Seriously, you are just piloting around a 3000 lb hunk of steel with a tiny little organic bit strapped in. Who needs to be safe?

Why make your face a point of contention?

Seriously, you are just piloting around a keyboard with a tiny little organic bit strapped in. Who needs basic common sense?

Here we go again. Give Charles a break. It's funny how some self-important pie hole locks in on a chance to go after someone and gets all "official" sounding. And then a bunch of mindless monkeys jump on the bandwagon. Monkey see, monkey do.

Let's be honest. Altiain's posts sound like he's got a stick up his ***. He sounds like some low level "semipro" who thinks he's ready for F1. He needs to loosen up the ben wa *****.

Firstly, if a completely random bystander walked up to an event organizer and complained about a safety issue, it would be the organizer's responsibility and duty to take that complaint seriously. That bystander doesn't have to be an F1 driver to be credible.

Secondly, Altain autocrosses at the national level and does quite well for himself. How fast are you?

Firstly, if a complete random bystander walked up to an event organizer or (aka: Safety Marshal or GOD) and complained...

What NORMALLY happens is they evaluate the complaint, and then take action...verbal comments, black flagging, etc...WELL BEFORE they started arbitrarily started throwing people out...just because someone got sand in their vagina...its called "common sense"...

Secondly, playing in parking lots with cones is DIFFERENT than a DE...perhaps not as **** retentive apparently...

Third, don't even get me started on all the auto-x'ers who have that "special tree" where they go toke up at BEFORE an event...this might not be the norm...but it certainly happens...probably less so at a DE because balling up your car at 100+ MPH is never a good time...

FOURTH, Why are all the auto-x boys playing the role of fire marshal bill???

How fast is YOUR face??

You're absolutely right - I've got a real big stick up my *** about safety at track days. I don't want to share the track with people who think safety is someone else's problem, because people like that cause accidents. I've seen it happen several times. I felt that I had something useful to add to this thread, so that newbies reading it might realize that the sort of behavior Charles posted about is neither safe nor cool, and will probably get them thrown out of an event if they get caught doing something similar.

What that has to do with my driving ability, I have no idea. However, I've been running track days for a decade, and I've instructed for several groups in the past. I do not have a wheel-to-wheel competition license, nor do I have any delusions about my potential in Formula 1. What level of experience makes you feel qualified to comment on this thread, princess?

As for Twinkie boy - you ran in the green group with TDE what, six months ago? I suggest you tuck this thread away somewhere, then come back and look at it in five years. Let me know if you still "think" (I use the term very loosely) the same once you've got some experience under your belt.

Calm down, all. If you have personal issues with something, please take it to PMs, and don't drag it out on the forum.

Uhh...you must have glossed over the whole "havent uploaded new videos in forever" thing...its not surprising however...

All your doing is trying to make yourself look better than you should...and I'm calling you on it right here...

All your doing is being a jerk...

Even bigger when you start making assumptions...

All which are NOT surprising coming from such an "experienced" professional...

Tell you what...why don't you take the "getting a clue for **** retentive clowns" class down at the local preschool for prima donnas...then let me know if you still "think" the same...

I don't care who you think you are...I'll punk you the same as everyone else...

I stand corrected. You ran with the green group ten months ago. I'm sure you've learned everything there is to know about track days since then.

Listen up, Sparky. Everyone was young and stupid and thought they were invincible at some point in their lives. Most of us grow out of it. Just try not to take anyone with you when you go out in a blaze of glory, okay?

Ha...man...your as sharp as a spoon...

It ever occur to you that perhaps your not as "all-seeing and knowing" as you believe you are? Probably not...moving on...

You've managed to miss not just the point...but all sorts of other things...which again is not terribly surprising...seems like the only thing you can see is the end of your nose...

But let's put it this way...if you check out my self-proclaimed "green" video...you can clearly hear the instructor tell me to "get in his trunk"...

You can also SEE HIS frustration and hand moving when we became blocked...

Hell on that day and that exact event they had a huge thing about the rules and safety...and that regardless what your driving...if someone is behind you and they were not there before...

YOU GIVE THEM THE PASS

Or else if the corner worker spots you you get black flagged off...

Its not that terribly difficult a concept...you should stick to your parking lots...its probably safer for not just you...but everyone around you since you lack "common sense" when it comes to following the rules...

Keep making your assumptions and feeling high and mighty...I'm sure you enjoy the smell of your own farts too...go get em cone killa...
