random engine cut off while on track
Yes, I have a high very amp one too yet still only 11 lbs., came to the conclusion a long time ago that a small battery isn’t a good idea in an RX8
oversized Speedsource pulleys too with a 1000 rpm idle to keep charging voltage up, alternator was under 12V output at factory idle speed
funny thing is on the alternator parts; an entire brand new alternator assembly is $392 racer cost, but the price for the rear aluminum outer body housing (W51) only is $590!!! Seems a bit dumb ...

did track event this past weekend with the big battery. the frequency of engine cut off was reduced a lot but i still had two session (out of 9) where the engine cut off once in session. before i was getting engine cut off a few times every session. my voltage is around 13.9-14.0 at idle and 14.1-14.2 above 2k

Wonder how many mile is on ur engine harness ?
Have u consider swap harness .........
i purchased the car with 70k miles two years ago. it's at 79k miles now. i pulled an engine harness out of a parts car months ago, i would not want to do that with a running car, it's a massive amount of work.
i reviewed my AiM video last night and saw that it lost ecu connections mid way through every session over the weekend. i should have tried to kept that unplugged from the obd2.

Just happened again.
I was trying to double clutch and downshift, when I stepped on gas (while clutch pedal is being pushed) it's not revving but oil pressure swipped back and the tacho dropped. Happened several times before, just like they said, it might be their launch control.

I have neither those enabled and I also have those 2 code but I did not disable them. Whether masking DTC, from what I experience these days, won't impact engine cut off, I specifically test this. The launch control, although not enable, can still confilct with some functions conflicts, according to VT.
Everything is pretty normal. Did several long trip include extended WOT, speed up to 130MPH, no cut off at all.
It's just I am getting some misfires , happened before ,no power loss, pretty normal.

i've been dealing with misfire for awhile too. went to LS coils which didn't fix it so i went back to oem coils. no misfire while driving on street, just on track under high load.
i messaged Steve about trying the beta map last week and didnt hear anything back. still working good for you?
i guessing your issue is fixed now that you've had more time to drive the car? i still haven't heard anything back from Steve after messaging him. but i my car will be in hibernation till March.
Still working pretty good, not a single cut off. It's my daily driver but a lot of sprit driving.
im glad im not the only one. i've been trying to chase down this issue for two years. wasted time and money replacing parts that didn't need to replace. and lost races because of it. only reason i went with VT over mazdaedit was because they said they would be working on flexfuel capabilities. i dont see that happening anytime soon. i'll probably switch to mazdaedit next season if this is not fixed.
