The porsche club is a bunch of jackasses

hey all, so my lady has been in the Porsche club Rocky mountain region for 10 years. she has a 911 and i have the 8 of course. anyways we are racing with the Porsche club next Saturday and there were tech inspections last night. we are the last to arrive so i had to wait for everyone else's inspection to be complete before pulling in my car. i figure it would be a piece of cake seeing as how every inspection took about 5 minutes and everyone passed. they took 35 minutes on my car! they took off all of my wheels (something they didn't do to any other car.) and ripped my battery out (again only to my car.) then failed me because my brake pads were less than the minimum required size (1/8th inch minimum). anyways i drive home pissed because i have almost new hawk pads. i purchased a new set of hawks this morning, pulled off the old set and measured them. 3/16ths on EVERY PAD! long story short the Porsche club is a bunch of old ******** that don't know anything about cars and if you ever have the opportunity to drive with them, PASS ON IT. they are a bunch of closed minded prejudicial *** hats. i cant wait until track day, just so i can take my old pads and smack this tech inspector in the face with them. i mean **** my girl is a Porsche mechanic and she taught this guy how to be an inspector and the dude shows no respect.

Shame about your experience. My local PCA Chapter is for the most part a bunch of elitist ******, who "drive flat out" but other chapters are much cooler so it is not really fare to paint the entire PCA as a bunch of ******.

Forgot to mention: cool wife - lucky bastard.

not wife yet but really she has been in the club since she is 15, you think they would have a little more decency than that for someone they have known that long. my girl has worked on their cars on and off the track for years! funny story, the guy who did my tech inspection applied to be an instructor for the PCA driving school and was denied because he sucks *** and he cant even flag properly! my lady taught the tech inspector class for this dude years ago.

That sucks to hear man.

Our local PCA chapters are pretty cool and laid back. Most of their HPDE's are made up of 1/3 or more non-porsches.

Kick *** and take names at the next event!

I used to get paid to work corners for the local PCA @ Road America. The events were PCA members only. They had enough cars to fill a weekend. Did this for BMW Club too. They were cooler. A larger variety of cars.

I've never had an issue with PCA. They were always very nice to me and enjoyed having a small crowd of Rx8 and at their events.

"3/16ths on EVERY PAD!" -- is that material left before the backing plate? Because that is not a lot as far as track duty goes.

But yes, go back, smoke them, ruffle some feathers.

I'm a big Porsche fan and spend a fair bit of time at the track and i've yet to come across a dick Porsche owner(although i know they exist). Most of them are just as interested in my car as i am in theirs and they typically respect the RX8's abilities on the track.

Maybe I'm just falling for your trolling, but you thing it's a little unfair to categorize an entire club because you had one bad experience?

That's like saying all rotary owners are ashy holes because Team RX8 is grumpy.

Bl1nD_RX,

As a person who's driven on days with members of the Rocky Mountain Group on open lapping days, just ignore them, and drive your drive.

I take it you are doing HPR on the 23rd and 24th?
Great track.

I'm looking forward to making it out there and see how my RX8 handles it compared to how my Boxster used to.

BC.

Sounds like a bad apple. I drive with a few of the PCA clubs, they are each very different. The ones here have a pre-inspection sheet with brakes, tires, fluids and stuff like that, that a mechanic signs off on. Seems like you got a good one locally.. If they took the sheet, then did the tear down and flunked you, it is because they were terrified of the 8. I have never seen that before an event, afterward, sometimes but never before.

For the inspector, see if you can get in his run group, go down if you have to. Hitting him with the pads just means you will have to clean them again before you use them.

To be honest, IMO 3/16" brake pad thickness is too low to start a track event on

Best way to get them back is to pass them back on the track

What if he drives a gt2? lol

I know good and bad porsche owners, the bad ones are simply useless so ignore them. The good ones can teach you a lot of cool things given the cars they drive and the peculiarity of their handling and powerband
