ok well i have had my 8 for 2 years, done some mods and now i want to put it to the test. I am new to the racing scene so i have some basic questions. I live in pa where can i race? I don't really understand all the classes so how do i know which one i belong in? Do i need some kind of special license to race? thanks any info would be welcomed.

Check out your local SCCA and NASA organizations websites. There is a ton of info for those interested in started in club racing. I first recommend enrolling yourself in some High Performance Driving Events to start learning how to drive and handle your car the right way.

The SCCA & NASA are good places to go to if you are planning to be an amateur racer. If you are going to go Pro or want to get several years worth of experience in one weekend, go to a pro drivers school. They are expensive, but they can be worth it. If your planning on just participating in HPDE's, it's not.

Right al, but I was going off the OPs original post where said he had done a few mods and wanted to test it out. That's why I mentioned going the club route.

Also, to the OP, wen it comes to getting into pro anything if that's what you are wanting to do...here's what you got to remember, you have to PAY to PLAY. Just that simple, I know a tons of pro drivers in the KONI series as well as the Rolex tha have to actually buy their seat time to compete. Believe me it ain't cheap by all means.

What kind of racing are you interested in? Wheel-to-wheel, time attack, hillclimbs, autocross, other? The more info you give the more help you're likely to get.

Got the 8, no mods yet (the Borla cat-back is waiting in the garage until the tides drop in my backyard ), and my second HPDE is next weekend at Summit Point.

First thing: decide what you want to do. I'm aiming for Time Trials next year, and need track time to get there. W2W is pretty much out, since I am nowhere near the cash level needed to survive bent metal.

Read this article and judge for yourself what you really want to aim for. I8U is dead on target.

I would start HPDE and go through 1-4 to learn the basics and so on and so forth. From there I'm sure opportunities will arise in terms of you being more aware of what's going on. You could ask the instructors you will have at any HPDE and they'll gladly answer all of your questions. Just as mentioned before, tracking isn't cheap. GL.

If pro racing is the end goal, won't go-karting be a better place to start? It's a lot cheaper.

In pro racing, there is a (right or wrong) a youth bias. Karts are a great place to start if your 13. If you already have your drivers license and own a RX8, you are starting behind the curve. You would need to go to a pro drivers school and start in the middle of the ladder to make it to the higher levels of the sport.
