Looking for an RX8 for Autocross

Current AX car is for sale and I'm looking for an RX8 for B Stock autocross.

I HAVE searched the forum and do not find answers to these questions.

Looking at used ones, is there any year that is better than others? Is there one model that is lighter than others, if so how much? What options do I need or not need?

Koni S/A's seem to be the shock of choice. Are any of the high end shocks available for this car? I have used Penske's, Moton's and Ohlins on other AX cars and they were all worth the investment.

Looks like Kumho 710's and Hoosiers in 245/35/18's are the tire of choice. Has anyone stuffed 285/30/18's on 8" rims? If so do they clear the fenders? Getting 285's up to temperature isn't a problem in Texas. We have to water tires between runs in November and February.

Thanks in advance for your help..................

^ Yeah, what he said...it's an awesome car, all dialed in and ready to go..plus, you just don't see many yellow RX8's.

To answer your other question, yes, the 285's fit, no problem (see below)...well, they don't wear all that great, but they do fit!

In summary the lightest trim is base/sport (for 06+), then you'll need Koni SA's, 18X8 lightweight wheels (probably OZ ultraleggaras), 245/35/18 V710's, an alignment, lightweight catback and maybe MS/Whiteline/drilled stock front sway.

285 Hoosiers are fairly easy to mount on 8" wheels, but only a very few select people can mount 285 V710s

Based on my experience, I'd say the 285 HoHo's are easier to mount than the 245Kumhos

And you get to practice mounting them a lot more often, since they only last about 1/3 as long!
