I've been considering a Shorai 423819 (LFX36L3-BS12), Lithium Iron Extreme-Rate Battery, 540 CCA, 7"x6"x4", 5 pounds. $250 last time I checked. |
same previous post in this thread still applies after all these years

the thing is though, I already had an OS Giken LSD installed ... . . |
I am using megalife lion4 battery
Unlike traditional battery with battery locations to trunk still offer very strong ceanking power With emergency start up button https://www.megalife-battery.com |
mine is the equivalent of the MR-40S in your link, but has almost 3x the Ah capacity (56), CCA is on par with MR-40 though (1200). Seems like the only difference should be the emergency start button, but the two differ in Ah and CCA, yet same weight, kind of odd.

I’m running the shoria in my 10. It works great.
On my 3rd year in my RS and went all summer in my rx. Even starts fine at 20 degrees F. |
So my motorcycle battery arrived today. This thing is tiny. I just need to figure out how to mount it now. Any ideas what types of adapters I should use to make it fit stock battery connectors?

Assuming M6 (I think) bolt, https://www.ebay.com/itm/252826670556
There's an allen-head bolt down the center to screw into the battery. The hex bolts are for screwing terminals to the top of the adapters. They aren't needed. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...7c647967a7.jpg Also https://stmtuned.com/products/odyssey-sae-battery-terminal-adapter-kit |
IMO you should assume to buy and keep handy a fully charged battery jump start box instead :suspect:
|
O Ye of little faith...
|
I certainly don’t have enough faith to be using 5W30 oil in a Renesis track engine either :suspect:

ok, not really Apparently you failed to notice that the viscosity value indicates otherwise even if true, that’s still too low for beating on it at the track . |
:-) do you really think what viscosity at 100C is what matters in internal combustion engine? HTHS is the number you want to look for when you talk about engine protection in extreme conditions.
For example Castrol 20w50 has HTHS of 3.7 same as my 5w30 redline oil: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...8f7638f180.png |
Tested new battery this morning, works just fine. Need to get some hardware to mount it properly.

of course, it’s brand new and fully charged
wrt the other topic, try pulling the blinders off and cleaning the wax out of your ears if you want to use that spec then look for something around 5+ and I’m not referring to petro oil, but then perhaps you don’t quite get that an oil change of Redline costs within 5 -10 dollars regardless of weight you use if that’s the brand you prefer it will probably have the number 50 on the label if that helps . |
Well got my shoria out after a long cold winter and rolling into its 4th season. I lost power for about 9 hours sat and pushed the car outside to go over it while the sun was out. That thing cranked right up in 39 degree weather. I really thought this battery would last maybe one or two seasons but it’s been a champ.
I swapped out the new one in my rs and moved this old one to my rx8 because I drive it more. So the rx now has the oldest one and it’s working great even when cold out. I’ll snap some pictures of my crude battery box I Had made for it. |

that positive tab is begging to be grounded/shorted, get a rubber cover or something over it
|
Nice catch. It does have one that was right after I took the maintainer off.

If anyone was wondering I was able to leave the car 5 days without it plugged in in the fall so cooler temp. And it fired right up. I was more shocked at that than how this has lasted. I tested it starting after sitting two days and went up just to be sure I wasn’t stuck while at work for a day or two. Didn’t need to go farther out than five but may try that this year just for fun. |
Well, my battery cost exactly 10 times less. Weight of under 8 pounds and I think it’s even smaller. The is how I installed mine. Did two track days with it and it works fine, mine is not daily driver. At this cost it’s just a replaceable item. Saved 30lbs for $30, can't beat that.

I that’s a nice option. I looked at quite a few before I didn’t mine and my goal was to be able to not daily but drive more as a nice day weekend car.
Although I like you option. Building a rally cross car now and was looking for a battery and yours looks like a better value option. |
