The King is Dead, Long Live the King!
according to SportsCar anyway...
The new issue has the "Who Will Win" guesses and the fearless prognosticators
have chosen Carter to unseat Jason this year. For some reason they believe that
Carter will put together 2 good days this year, for a change...
A moment of silence for Jason, please.
oh, and Jennifer is picked to repeat.

Jennifer will be my pick to repeat as well in BSL.
I'm in the SE Div, and it would be nice to see Carter have two good days this year. My $0.02...Carter is the fastest driver in B-stock, but Isley has shown himself to be the most consistent (by far) over a two-day competition. The fact that he's won the "big dance" three years in a row is a testament to how strong of a driver he is under pressure.
This year will be my first trip to Nats, so my only goal is to 'soak up' the experience as much as possible. If I cone all my runs on one day (or both days) I wouldn't give a flyin' f!ck at this point. Seriously.

Thats it I quit. I saw that come across my desk last month, they asked me if I wanted to change anything.... I did change one thing, because his co-driver has been kicking his @ss they left out Harvey, but I said toss the guy a bone, he was just a clean run away from a ProSolo championship last year.

Agreed on including Harvey on the list. I haven't recv'd my issue yet but is Bryan H. on there as well? If he decides to run BS MR2-T, he's definitely a contender as well.

Sounds like a pretty laid-back office. Glad you're so nonchalant about the whole thing. But then again, who picked Isley to win in '05...

There are so many people that can be contenders or just come out of nowhere, you can't include them all. Trust me in 2005 when two Texans were leading the first day everyone said WTheF are these guys... And I know I was not on the radar having only only win and no other top three drives that year.
They are all just guesses, and are 100% influenced by the pickers who typically pick the people they see at the events they run at. I stopped worrying about the pics a long time ago.
However, I do have a copy of all the pickers individual guesses, and will speak to each of them for not picking me.

I must say that I hope to get the time to chat with you in Topeka between the Finale and Solo Nats. Your Sportscar articles are always top-notch.

Haha. I'm still picking Jason. Not sure how they can claim he's not fastest. He was the top guy on day 1 the last two years, and he does what he needs to on day 2 to stay there. That's clutch. IMO, it's much easier to lay down a smoking time when you're coming from behind.

driver all year long and then the M3 went out to San Diego and got stomped by ULLLOSE & Co. talk about your surprises when Nationals rolled around...
hey, maybe 2008 will be a repeat of 2005! except with a Texan hanging on to win?

A couple of other Dark Horse picks to watch out for.....The Yeller RX8 from the northern reaches of the country will be right in the mix if Ivan and Neal can stay off the cones and how about Jason Saini if he makes another surprise appearance this year....
Can't wait for the fun to begin, hopefully the weather and run group gods are good to us again.

First they pick Carter, then attribute his increased speed to Hoosiers...nice, that's kind of a "two for one", isn't it?
We'll see, I'm not betting against ULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOSE, aka Mr. Consistent (which isn't to say he isn't also FAST)
Anyhow, the whole thing's a joke, they obviously didn't get the memo that onedayMike was back in a BS car...

Chike, if you don't have any clean runs, you'll only be slightly worse than I was last year in my first trip to Nats-I had ONE clean run
Since Carter is registered one number before me, I luckily won't have to hear how fast his runs are before I'm done driving On day 2 in ATL, I had posted the fastest raw time in the group...only to have Carter follow me right across the line almost 2 seconds faster. Blah.

Running against Carter can be demoralizing. Luckily I don't do that very often -- however, being beaten by Piccione and Strano in FS stings just as badly (Strano normally gets me by 1.5-2 seconds).
