JGTC Clips
I posted this in the media forum, but with 0 replies in 24 hours i assume nobody cares. Put up a picture of an 8 with lambo doors and everybody goes nut. Mention a real racing series and all you get is tumbleweed in the wind.

Me and a few friends are seriously considering making a road trip to california for there one US race of the year. Anybody in the SoCal area plan on attending? Damn i wished i was in cali sometimes. I dont feel like driving my 8 all the way there, but if i lived there, i'd so do the auto-x... maybe get noticed... maybe get recruited... maybe be a driver in JGTC next year? maybe? Well, we all get to dream.

don't feel bad man, very few folks don't know anything auto racing around here other than Nascar or the Indy 500, a lot of them probably think A.J foyt is still racing...heh If I had the $ I'd be all over going to Cali to check out the race that's coming there. Thanks for the clip, I wish Speed channel still showed the touring car races etc., now it's all Nascar, ads, a cool show here and there and "Tunervision" (ugh).

I've seen the movies elsewhere. JGTC is a pretty awesome series, but it'll be a cold day in hell before racing fans in the United States give it the same status as NASCAR. It pushes the limits of weird science, with its knockoff inspiring bodystyles, complex suspension design, its use of small displacement monsters like RE-Amemiya's N/A 20B and my favorite piston engine, the VQ30DETT used in the Z-cars, and it has all the Japanese supercars us Yanks can only dream of. However, I'll take ALMS or Grand-Am any day of the week; Grand-Am gives the chance to put real-world RX-8s onto the track.

I dont want to bash any other type of racing. I just wished the media outlets, and fans here would embrace more than just nascar.
The more i think about it, the more i want to attend this event. If i go, i'll let yall know. We should meet up before the event.

NASA Members do it all. From road racing, to autocross to drift there’s not much on wheels NASA Members aren’t into. That’s why we have worked to get NASA Members special VIP Treatment at the most exciting road racing event of the year: GT Live!
GT Live features a first-ever U.S. appearance for the Japanese touring car series, better known as JGTC. It will feature the D1 Grand Prix U.S. vs. Japan Pro Drifting Exhibition, Formula D and Xtreme Drifting League. As if that weren't enough, GT Live will also showcase a Time Attack event and ride-alongs with race car drivers in the GT Demo Runs. If you are more into driving than watching you can run your own car in the GT Autocross (that NASA is hosting), drive a car provided by a manufacturer in the GT Ride & Drive Autocross, hop into a go-kart or pilot an RC car. If your gig is more show than go, then GT Live can offer you the Super Street Car Show or Car Audio & Electronics Audio Challenge. So if you are into cars, racing or just looking for a great weekend activity, GT Live pretty much has you covered.
NASA members will receive a special package that allows access to the NASA VIP suite above pit row, and an event t-shirt, all at no extra charge just for being a NASA member!!
GT Live takes place December 18 & 19, 2004 at California Speedway. Tickets are $50 for a weekend pass and $35 for single day passes and can be purchased at http://www.jgtcusa.net/promo/nasa.php, or by calling 866.500.JGTC.

holy crap, when I grow up I really want to be an astronaut now!! :D seriously though, it seems like what doesn't make money doesn't get publicized (just look at football and soccer, best example I can think of) so as long as Nascar is raking it in like it is, it'll be a while before we get more pub for races such as this...someday it will happen though, just maybe not to the extent that Nascar is crammed down our throats

I really know nothing about JGTC but would like to learn more about it. My extent of the divisions goes as far as the 300 and 500 class. Redline TV tried to inform people about JGTC and stir intrest in the sport, but when you have Courtney Day talking about motorsports it is VERY easy to lose intrest. She sounded like a recording with no feeling about what was happening. Unfortuneately that was the only source for video information about JGTC that I could find.
