help with engine light at track

Hello all
I just got back from Nelson Ledges with my rx-8 and what a blast. A comment and a question.
I was at beaver run (PA) about 3 weeks ago and on my last lapping session my engine starting cutting out. I ended my run and then after a short while drove the 2hrs home to the Cleveland Ohio area.

As I was saying I was at Nelson Ledges this weekend and yesterday the same thing happened..... My driving instructor suggested it might be because my tank was at abou 1/4 of a tank and sure enough today, I filled up at lunch and everything was fine. my comment, the slushing around of the gasoline in the car is a problem when the tank is low- my friend with a 911 s4 has the same problem.

My question, after my hot laps and during the cool down lap my oil light comes on for about 1/3 of a lap and then goes off. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm running my last lap in 4th gear about 50 mph...A friend suggested it might be my oil temp going up. I don't have the mazda speed front airdam, does this allow more airflow? Is there a extra oil cooler kit available?

Thanks

PS The car goes fast. now i'll admit i'm a rookie (Class C out of Class A through D and my third event) but this car was faster then the 911 S4 and Corvette Z06, in fact the guy in the Z06 said he thought I was accelerating as hard as him coming out of the carosel (I know not likely but I had alot of people who were shocked by how fast this car is!)

I've had some feedback (not on this forum) that it might be my oil foaming. I'll let everyone know if I have success with a different oil.

oil pan

Had my oil pan replaced. Light was coming on between 4 and 5 K on if sustained. it was a sensor problem for me. the sensor is part of the oil pan so that is why...

If you can repeat my findings on the highway you can tell the dealer this instead of the racing story.

Thanks Berni
One late night I was going through some of the other forums after my post and found just what you were talking about with the oil pan and my dealership has ordered a new one for me and will be installed this thursday.

As far as the "racing" its really just taking the car out to the track and going fast, no competition just some fun. I go back and forth about being honest and telling them (the dealership) i'm going tp track days and other times I think I shouldn't.

But have you seen the rx-8 commericals and the guy power sliding through a turn? Please, this is how they advertise the car to be used- as a sports car and I certainly don't drive like that on the streets.......

Anyway, thanks again and my next track day is at Mid-Ohio and I'll report back whether the pan made a difference.

Paul
