Personally, I wouldn't simply call it any one thing - it's like nothing else out there.
LPCOKIE: Be careful using all capital letters - some folks equate that with shouting and they'll get ornery. One more suggestion - take a little time to check your posts. No one is a perfect typer (self included), but 4 out of 12 words wrong? 4 out of 7 if you don't count the number and "the", "of", and "a"? There's folks on this forum for whom English is a 2nd language who do far better than that.
forgive my grammar
i confess to being challenged in grammar. got the flu in the first wave to hit california in mid 50's. reading level is high but grammar and spelling is bad. but after having my 8 for a month and a half i feel it is more sports car than i have ever driven. With the exception of a lotus 7 back in the 60's. my last car was a celica GT which i loved but the 8 is superior in all ways. except for the ECU which is really hard to crack and work with. and the lack of being able to change head units. i do look forward to some one putting out a reliable supercharger.

Glad you're enjoying your RX-8. I received a Celica as a rental car when my car was in the body shop. Granted, an automatic rental fleet vehicle will not be the best representation of Toyota's Celica, but I thought it completely sucked. I was so happy to get my RX-8 back.
I'm keeping an eye on the turbo/super developments too. I've got a lot of warrenty to use up first, but someday.... yeah, that'll be awesome.
By the way, welcome to the forum!

auto celica suck
my celica was a 5 speed GT with TRD exhaust, hotshot header, injen short ram. and 7 in rims.
it was great in the city when not hitting over 80. the GTS was faster over all but only for top end. but to give you an idea. my celica did my favorite clover leaf at 40. the 8 did it at 45 and i was not close to maxing it out. over all i really am happy.

Heh, my first 'wow' experience with my/any RX-8 was on the test drive of the car I bought. The salesman directed me to a cloverleaf onramp and encouraged me to 'give it more' on the warm, dry pavement. The car was holding really nicely, but my butt wasn't. I was sliding slowly, but steadily across my seat and about the end up sitting on the driver's door. I was concentrating on holding the turn and didn't get an exact mph reading, but I was impressed. Damn these cars can hold the road!
Now I shift deeper in the seat and cinch my seatbelt tight before I try a tight turn (actually, now it's winter so aggressive cornering has to wait until April).
