Did you notice that the MazdaSpeed 3 in the street tire class finished 23d in PAX using the normal R-tire PAX! This matches an experience at this weekends Cone Clinic where a Novice student in that new car ran something like a high 26 second time in his new MazdaSpeed 3 on OEM tires. I ran a 26.3 best time on Kumho MX and my next best time was a 26.885 so the new guy in the new car was close to my time.
So what you say...you are slow Cole. Well, Andy Hollis drove my car with both me and C.J. in it at different times and ran around 27 flat so the MazdaSpeed 3 on OEM tires driven by a novice was running about even with my car!!
Does anybody still not think that the Solstice is an overdog? Not saying it should be in BS, but it sure gives the shaft to a lot of 99 Miatas.

Those results are screwed up. I'm pretty sure Ron went 42.09, clean, which would give him the PAX by .001, based on our calculations. Still, a good day for the RX8 and I drove about as well as I know how!
BTW, we were all talking about that MS 3, it DOES look like quite the DS weapon

The 99 Miata has been the car to have in CS/BS for years now. Did someone from the SCCA guarantee that it would ALWAYS be competitive?
Just checking, maybe it was in a Fastrack that I missed.

Here's the thing: Even if the Z0K Solstice proves to be as fast as BS (which probably is not the case, at the top levels), what's the upside in moving it? The previous car of choice, the '99 Miata Sport, is becoming harder and harder to find, being it's nearly ten years old and not that many were made to begin with, while you can go down to your local Pontiac dealer and buy a new Solstice for not much over $20,000...and have a great daily driver (as long as you don't need to carry anything in the trunk!). At the same time, BS has enough diversity and you can either go "esoteric" (968 M030) or new (RX8, 350Z), so why introduce another car?
So what if CS becomes a Solstice "spec class" until something else comes along...it's not like it wasn't one, before

Agree with Mike that we don't EVEN want the Solstice (or Dietz/FastMike etc) in B Stock. Too darn much competition!!

LOL!
That same car will be up against a 99 Miata that it hasn't ever raced against so we will see what happens then. I think it is going to be a really close race at the SD tour.

It will be interesting to see how you guys do against Ryan, but my money is on the "brothers from another mother"

Heh, not this again. ES has parity among 3 cars currently. BS has 3, possibly 4 if a top driver really prepped the heck out of an MR2 Turbo. CS, well, it seems to have been a spec class as of late, with occasional appearances by MR2 Spyders. The Solstice is the new spec.
Point being, ES would become a spec class if the 99 Miata was moved down, decreasing participation, and it wouldn't do anything to increase CS numbers. Those who want to win CS are going to buy a Solstice anyway.
Oh and Mike (Wood), you talk a humble game but you keep getting faster!
