Cleaning off rubber

What do you guys use to clean the rubber off of your cars?
I used WD-40 but that can't be good for it

I think they actually recommend their product to use to remove tar and bug crap off your car. Not sure exaccctttlllyyy how well that recommendation has been tested, but a quick google search didn't find any ill effects. I just wouldn't go smoking a cigarette or testing out your new flame thrower near the car after.

probably a good idea
i used normal car wash fluid...no help
little WD-40 came right off...you know how your car gets covered in rubber after a track event...wonder if there's any car wash fluid tough enough to get it off without stratching

This stuff gets rubber marks off paint, wheels or anything quickly, easily, smells oh=so-nice .. the concentrate not the diluted stuff is what works best.

In fact, I use this to clean or remove almost everything that gets in my way it's a miracle product IMO!

Do you dilute at all or use straight acetone? Does acetone do any wear on the clear coat?

For the race car we use two things to get the zillion of rubber marks off the car: Bug and Tar (black bottle / green label) to get the rubber and bugs off. Works great however it leaves a light film. But it works great. We then follow it up with a cheap spray way (I like Turtle was in the green bottle). We use a lot of these products and they appear the most cost effective.

The followup wax gets rid of the bug and tar residue.

Brake clean works wonders on anything but is pretty harsh. Wonders. And it's cheap.

The guys use this process on the wheels as well and the wax makes it easy to wipe off the wheels of marbles from the previous session. Let your wheels cool down quite a bit before you wipe off the marbles from the inside of your wheels and/or apply a cleaning product so they won't run.

Orange based cleaners work the best for rubber removal but leave even more of a residue and a usually more expensive.

Happy Rotoring.

old racers trick---spray the car (in the areas that collect rubber) with Pam cooking spray before you go out. The rubber will not stick to your car then and afterward you can just wash it off.
youre welcome.

I use MEK lacquer solvent too, I generally don't mention or recommend it because it would be inevitable for somebody to try and soak their entire car in it and blame me for all the paint dissolving off .....
