Is the BS/CS merge a done deal?

title says it...

I've been reading that the merge is done, but haven't seen anything official...for the record, I still think it is a dumb idea. Better to fix CS than break BS...

I have heard nothing. I would not expect them to decide until after natls.

A lot of these things are nailed down at the SEB face to face meeting during/after the natl convention.

I'm not very hopeful the SEB will do the right thing. I suspect they would rather make a uber class for the 5-8 cars that would run nationally. I've never seen the SEB go back and admit they screwed up a classification decision yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they just want to bury the MSR/ZOK stupidity with the 332hp 370Z. That way they could cover up their (and predecessors ) mistake(s).

That's what I thought, but I keep hearing people talking as if it is a foregone conclusion...

I think, with the 370Z coming into the mix, that it makes even less sense than it did when initially proposed. BS is just going to get more interesting.

CS, on the other hand, is at a tipping point. It appears that there really isn't much interest in building MS-R or Z0K cars, so I think a better solution is to look at reconstituting the class. How crazy an idea is it to suggest dropping both trunk kits, i.e. no Z0K or MS-R (yeah, I know, they actually built production Z0K's...but, most of 'em are conversions)? Would the Sol be the car to have? Could set up development allow the new MX-5 to be a player? Would the '99 Sport return to dominance? I dunno, but those all seem to be more interesting questions than what we are currently confronted with in CS...

That would involve getting the SEB to admit there was a mistake. I like the idea of just reclassifing the ZOK/MSR to AS. NB miatas would fall from the sky to fill the void.

Ironically if you move the ZOK/MSR/370 to AS you could combine BS and CS much more reasonably.

I like this idea a lot. Obviously the current AS will be the new BS under this proposed re-org plan.

last I heard, the SEB was going to put the BS/CS merge proposal out one more time and
see if they get any more responses.

it sounded like they were split 50/50 on the issue and need a tie breaker.

Most of the ZOK's in CS are production cars. There are very few conversions.

I think we should outlaw or overclass everything but MGB's and Alfa's. Then we would have some good racing.

Yeahbut...so what if 4 of the 7 Z0K's actually competing throughout the country in Solo are production cars, they're still irrelevant...

By the time Nationals gets here the ZOK and MSR will have something in common with MGB's..................Being OUT of production.

Haha. U guys are funny.
I am putting my feet and hands where my mouth is. I am running a 99 Miata this weekend at the Pro.
WOOHOO!
Hmmmmm....ES now beating BS...99 Miata better than a R package Miata(tough to argue that one away)....99 Miata completely outclassed by Solstice ZOK???
WOW!
That must mean that the Solstice is WAY faster than BS.
Then you throw in the MS-R which I ran and went "uh-oh"..
Wildcard is the 370Z.

PS: I am still confused why the SEB wants to keep DS and GS a separate class.
I run DS in a Cobalt SS and do ok in it and think the TypeR has the Cobalt SS's # on a slalom course and the MiniS matches the SS on many courses too.
All that said, I hope the new AS goes through...
