autox newbie tire question
I am still waiting for my Rx-8 to get here. Arghhh. Ordered in 1/5/04, finished being built 4/12 and no notice that it is on the boat yet. Anyway - I am getting really excited about trying autox with the car but know nothing about it yet. My 1st hand at autox will be at the RevItUp event this weekend. Now, the question - does the tire pressure monitors on the stock tires and the elevated pressures in the tires cause any problems or should the monitors be removed or the stock tires by replaced?

No. The stock tire pressure monitoring sys. will be fine. If it's dry, run the fronts up to 36 and the rears up to 34. If the fronts look a little chewed after a couple of runs, air them up to 38. The more pressure you run in the rears, the more tire spin you'll get.

Go to this site and follow the links for "Your First Event" and "Autocross FAQ". There are lots of resources like those but they will get you started.
