Autocross Alignment

Hey all,

I've used the search function but seem to turn up conflicting information on an alignment for autocross. Now this car is also my daily driver so I don't want to go too extreme with it. I was going to max out the camber in the front (hoping that I can get -1.5) and set front and rear to zero toe, but I want to get opinions for the rear camber. I like how the car is balanced front and rear from the factory and seem to be able to get oversteer on it when I want, so I don't want crazy off throttle oversteer from increasing the camber in the front, but I definitely don't want to set the back to give me understeer and push in the medium to high speed corners either. Like I said, neutral is what I'm going for - I can dial it in with tire pressure after that. Thanks for suggestions!

what other suspension mods, if any, do you have? If you want to keep it rather neutral for autocross, I'd suggest .2 more than the front. EX) 1.5 neg up front, 1.7 neg in the rear.

I'm no tuning genius however so wait for more input from more experienced 8 drivers. Also, if I'm remembering right, there is a rather long alignment thread where ppl offered their setups and what they thought of them....... find it.

I run 1.8 in the rear and 1.6 up front (camber)...I'll have to locate my alignment sheet to get you the rest of the numbers. I run these on the street, don't autocross much but love my back country drives.

When you guys are referencing camber values, are you specifying total camber or just one side?

Thanks for the replies. I read the other thread a while back - there is just so much conflicting information on there, and those who probably know best refuse to share their settings. Right now I'm thinking that I'll go -1.5 in the front and -1.8 in the rear. As much caster as I can get on that setup and I might go 1/8th toe in on the rear to keep the car from being too twitchy for street use. What do you think?

By the way, I'm completely stock and planning on staying this way. I'm running B Stock now on factory tires and winning local events, but had I run in STX in my last event I'd have finished 7th in Pax on this totally stock setup so I'm considering the move. For local events it just makes more sense unless I invest in some R comps.

Run minimum caster, anything more than that and you will give up -camber. The rest sounds good.

I'm running the following. I use these on the street/track but probably would work for autocross

LF 1.5 Neg Cam RF .6 Neg Cam
Front Toe 2mm in

Rear Toe 2mm in
LR 2.4 Neg Cam RR 2.0 Neg Cam

Why the toe in on the front and mismatched camber from side to side

The mismatched camber was because he was trying to get the most he could out of the front tires and could only get .6 on the right side. The mismatched rear is to match the front. I know most people get more than that from the front but that was all he was able to get me. (I'm on stock suspension)

The toe in was to make the car more stable under high speed braking (I think)...

The guy that did my alignment does a lot of racecar applications so I just let him do his thing.

The alignment has freed up the car up nicely and it sets up very well for high speed corners.
