anyone using this--like the Ingalls stiffy?
Or anyone know where nylon motor mounts can be found?
I dont want solid ones.

ok maybe not--but look at track vids and watch how much the gearshift is moving--dont know if a stiffy would help with that or not--but sense we dont have better motor mounts.....

Not sure Denny, I know I've seen a few engine dampers out there, just can't remember where. Solid mounts are nice but aren't too fun for the street.

ok --i get the vibe--what does anyone suggest for a street driven car that tracks and would like to reduce the drivetrain(including engine) movement?
Nylon mounts would be nice but so far they would have to be custom made,
trans/diff brace make a bunch of noise during street driving?
You can make a take off torque arm--but i really dont want to do that.
i will try to post a vid showing the gearstick movement --its probably an inch or so of movement.
Any suggestions?

I'm in the same position, olddragger. I'm not boosted, but the "rebound" -- for lack of a better word -- coming on and off the throttle is annoying. It behaves like the TSB for the engine mounts, but the mounts otherwise check OK (and have been replaced). I don't give a crap about NVH, as a result CD players in my cars are useless and friends don't like riding in my cars. BHR/CRH has mentioned that he has solid engine mounts, but I've never seen any advertised.

enjoyed the vid---and i see yours doing the same thing.
Solid mounts do cause a good bit of noise/vibration from what I understand from others. Also if i am not mistaken some of the racing teams started cracking other components with solid mounts.
Need better mounts or bandaid it with a stiffy?

I used to have a damper, but all it did was pass vibration to the chassis. Which I assume its ok on a racecar but not in your daily driver.. SUCKS, threw mine out the window.

 

Where did you throw it out the window so I can go pick it up? I don't care about vibration, I want responsiveness and rigidity.

It is keeping my Renesis Engine mounts from ripping off...again! lol :P

Apparently when the engineers at Mazda designed the stock engine mounts they didn't expect anyone to make almost three times the stock power output @ engine through the stock mounts...haha...

It does transfer a bit of vibration now that my engine has a "brap brap brap" idle but when it was stock port it was fine because the stock engine barely vibrates at all...it did make a noticeable difference when getting on and off the throttle...no more "guminess" and the shifter barely moves from side to side when transitioning from off to on the throttle.

I like it...but like Angel said...it will transfer any vibration your engine has if you adjust it fully tight...I leave about 10mm of give total so I don't feel vibrations but it holds the engine from shifting past that.

I was watching the VIDS you guys have posted, and my shifter does the same thing, i was worried and thought maybe motor mounts also. But by the looks of it maybe its somwhat normal??

I had poly urathane motor mounts on my other car, and the vibration was bad, REALLY bad when you turn the A.C on. Sounded like my dash was going to sit in my lap. I would want a better solution but idk if it exist! lol

 

when it comes to rotary vibration, drivetrain flexure is a good thing

Team---can you elaborate a little? I know when downshifting from a high speed 135 or so in 6th rev matching to 4th --at times she doesnt want to go--this is during hard braking (down to about 80mph)----i think it is driveline flex that is causing this.
Some flex IS good--sure agree on that. But at what point does it cross that line?

Well I THINK I have found out how to make my own soft poly motor mounts--should be better than oem but not so hard it causes vibration issues. Stay tuned.
