Abel Ibarra is nuts
Well, what else do you call a guy with a 1400HP RX-8?

well at least it has stock rear tail lights....
I think I actually saw this car on tv - I was watching Super Tuner TV and saw it in the background sitting in a shop where they were doing a 3hr Honda engine swap for the show... of course it was never mentioned or shown fully since a riced out crx is way more important <shrug>

On page 38 of Feb 2004 issue of SCC, a small blur refering to the same car:
IBARRA STICKS WITH MAZDA
At about the same time that Abel Ibarra's old R-100 was being shoehorned into NHRA's museum, the racer himself was rolling out his completed weapon for the 2004 racing season - this swaggering, tube-frame, K&N-sponsored RX-8. It's no secret Ibarra has been working on this car. Now it's ready to run.
The body has been stretched, chopped, lopped and twisted for optimal on-track performance, but it's still recognizable as an RX-8, isn't it? Power will come from rotors crushed under massive turbo boost to produce about 1,400 hp. That should push the car well pass 200 mph at the end of the quarter mile and haul the Pro RWD e.t. record down into the 6.60s.

For the uninitiated, a 20b is a 3 rotor motor. He has been running twin turbos; I don't know if that's still the case. The last numbers I saw posted for him were 6.95 @ just shy of 200 mph ( Still in his RX-7)
