Supposedly the new 1.6L is going to make "36% more horsepower" than the 1.3L...or around 315hp...I wonder if that is Mazda hp or real hp?

If that ends up being a reality - it'll probably end up in AS.

That's right. I did 'wonder' what hp #'s your car would make @ 9 grand!

I was under the impression that the "new" SSRs were weighing in at 17.5lbs. Do they actually weight 16.5? Maybe they were listed incorrectly on the Tire Rack site I was looking at.

Thanks

The set Jason is referring to is an older set of the 5 spoke SSR's, which a friend locally was kind enough to lend to the cause for Topeka

Yes, the SSR GT2, the same wheel Goeke has. I seem to recall they were 16.8ish.

Huh, somehow managed to miss this when it started...

Wow, my car was 2875 with 1/4 tank of gas at the packwood tour. It's a sport, not a base, but still. I was on stock wheels, 22 lbs each i think they are, so 20-25 pounds for those, 2850... Already have a lightweight exhaust. Stock front bar (now on the SFR bar, but I doubt that saved much weight). Are my fog lights 50 pounds or something? :P 1/4 tank of gas is 20 lbs. Still, how the heck are people under 2800?...

2898? Jeez. That aero kit is fat. Kinda makes me wish that I knew what autocross was when I bought my car.

06' and later models have a heavier battery and starter to address some of the cold starting issues. Your weight seems in-line with my 06' Base model which was about 2850 with OZ's, solid bar, light exhaust and 1/4 tank at Nat'ls.

scales vary more than you think, that's why you always weigh your car upon arriving at an event in a weight min class and adjust accordingly

the Heartland Park scales were reading light IMO ...

the orignal 1-pc SSR Comp wheels weigh 1 lb less than the current 2-pc version

That's good to know. Hopefully, I'll get to weigh my car at the DC Pro and see what number we're at. The plan is to run our full Nationals set-up...

2008 nationals weight for #170 and #70 BS -- 2840lbs on the HPT in-ground scale.

Car was running at least 2 gals of extra fuel as we fuel starved on Day 1 (tried a lower-than-usual fuel load).

I fuel starved on the West course around the long sweeper too. I had 1/8th tank at the time, and I'd never fuel starved before with the fuel tank above empty. I've only starved in the past with the gas gauge well past empty.

If anyone's curious, that "other" BS car in the trophies weighed 2,750lbs on the Topeka scales. About 50lbs lighter than I expected.

Not that it helped.

resurrecting this old thread.

From digging around looks like 04-05 S1 base model is the lightest @ 2800-2900lb in stock trim.

Mazda claims they reduced weight with the S2 but they list base model @ 3065lb?

what gives?

Anyone knows actual weight of the R3?
